I'm just gonna go with "because I like girly things!" Perhaps there are just some things some ment won't ever understand LOL. I've heard the opposite being said as well "I wish my wife/girlfriend would do herself up and stop looking frumpy". Not everyone will ever be pleased.

@ sharp
I dont use lip gloss :) not really. unless my lips are dry.
and eyeshadow doesnt leak all over yo face! Girls who know how to use makeup make it look natural. and apply it well and its a natural look. The point of makeup is to enhance your natural beauty. not to disguise it.
And you're right its not a necessity. But neither is dressing nice. you could say we should all wear potato sacks!! no. lol its a way to express artistry and personality. and foundation shouldnt show two different colours. You have to know what kind of makeup to get.

I'm not going to say whether it should be banned or not but I will say this: Women shouldn't so much focus on their outer beauty but instead focus on their inner beauty and let that shine outward.

so I would have loved to taken the time to read this whole thread but it is majorly long so I will just comment on the inicial post. I love makeup, not as much for covering up things I don't like but because it's an art form. I do agree some people, especially in the celebrity world, take it to far. The only time you need to wear that much makeup is for the camera as it takes a lot to show up properly. I took esthetics and find makeup exciting because I love color, I love trying new things and experimenting with matching new colors together and new styles. Its so cool how you can make someone look totaly different too! I do admit though I like some makeup because it covers some of how I look. But that is not my problem it is the problem of whoever invented florecent lighting and decided every room needed enough bulbs to light three! Wherever I go my eyes look tired and my skin pale and lifeless, if I didn't wear just a wee bit then people ask me if i'm ok or if i'm feeling well. It just helps to hide what man has created.

Why so much anger in lead post?? And WHY do you think that because of your single OPINION, stuff that allows women to make themselves feel better, or actually improve themselves a bit should be banned?? I mean...WHO ARE YOU TO DICTATE WHAT I DO OR DO NOT WEAR?? Attractivieness always involves modesty and common sense or wisdom.

Can we get over this please.

The original post was posted almost a year and a half ago, and I have explained myself several times within the thread; responses which later posters are clearly not bothering to read.

This is now becoming boring.

we were all made just perfectly the way we are.... however make up can be a fun thing.... i dont mean to say that its good or bad....however the freedom to wear make up for fun or any reason is a freedom i would not deny people... therefore i personally do not think that make up should be banned.....

Being a mom, it's a win/win situation when it comes to gussying yourself up. These days I don't really bother much with how I look as long as I look clean cut and appropriate. I would never where cakes and loads of make-up on my face just to go to the grocery store. Also, I wouldn't just to take my daughter to a one of her games at school. I think make-up is only for special occasions. Granted, I do use a concealer (because of undereye dark circles) and also a light foundation on most days, but a complete blush, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick detail should be saved for those times you want to look extravagant.

It sounds to me like Sharp does not have much of an open mind or God's Grace when it comes to the subject makeup!

Just because one person hates makeup, doesn't mean that everyone does.
Just because one person thinks it should be banned, doesn't mean it should be for all.
What's good for the goose, may not necessarily be good for the gander.
And who are you to say what another person needs, or not?
There are different strokes for different folks! So let's all Live and Let Live!

No one should put Paint on their face, paint is meant for walls and furniture, not human skin!
As for makeup, if it leaks, cracks, flakes (comes off easily), smells, or appears to have more than one shade/color, then it is either contaminated (in which case it should not be used) or else it is very cheap makeup. Remember the old saying "You get what you pay for!" It is much better to spend a little more and buy quality makeup, than to waste your money buying the cheap stuff for the sake of saving a buck or two, that will only defeat the whole purpose of buying makeup in the first place.

Makeup is a choice or a option we have to enhance our appearance or cover our flaws. Obviously, it is not meant for everyone. If you are blessed with great skin then I'm sure less is best if your comfortable with your appearance. When makeup is applied properly it can truly enhance eyes, skin and bone structure, and work magic to make a person look years younger. Just look at Hollywood's actors and actresses' before and after makeup pictures! If it is applied properly with the right kind of makeup, one will look as if they are not wearing any makeup at all. But makeup doesn't have to be expensive to be of good quality.

As for a Good Reason to wear makeup, here's one:

* Since beautiful skin is a reflection of your inner health... Makeup hides imperfections, exfoliates the skin, resulting in oil control, makes the skin soft, and even protects the skin from damage caused by the sun's harmful UV Rays.
* Burn victims, to help cover up their painful scars. Makeup can completely transform them!
* People with scars, Rosacea, or other skin disorders can really benefit from makeup. Makeup can help conceal... As well as help to alleviate symptoms.

We should not be so judgmental of others.

I say yes it should be banned. My reasoning behind that is if a person doesn't like the way they look, then they're basically telling God that they wish He made them more attractive so they could have a better life on earth. We should be focusing on what's to come after this life on earth, not what's on this earth now.

I think makeup is a fun way to express yourself. People learn a lot about you from your makeup style. Also it's fun to put on and try new styles and experiment with different techniques and stuff. :] Its exactly like wearing jewelry to me. You put it on for some pizazz but it's not completely necessary. People who depend on it to feel good make me sad though.

I wear make-up almost every day of my life. It is a boost to my esteem. Some people wear toooooo much, but the point of makeup is to enhance your natural beauty. I also don't see anything spiritually wrong with makeup either. To me wearing makeup is fun and allows me to feel beautiful even when I'm not.

Scenario...you are going for a job interview. You want to portray your best traits without being dishonest. You dress apropriately to show respect and sincerety. Your wardrobe (or appearance) shows that you put thought and effort into it and, indirectly, into your life. For many people this includes a bit of makeup. (or shaving lol) Same applies to any event which you are either invited to or hosting. It's a way of showing respect. Believe it or not. I can see the ideas of "insecurity" and "plasic people" have valid points, but one must look at the heart. Be careful not to judge people injustly based on their outward appearance. REGARDLESS of wether you are for or against makeup.
