I for one would Totally Agree with mystic here. And I dont think this fact is hidden from people who are regular in Lounge rooms. Ofcourse, everyone says, "Race should not be a hindrance towards Godly fellowship" , but there is a huge difference between what thats said, and what is actually being put into the practice.
I have observed the discrimination and even people being ignored constantly. I saw someone (an asian) constantly trying to have a conversation with anyone in room, but no one responding to it. And suddenly when some "more known" hopped in, and everyone appeared on screen and room was on full flow. Now that was surprising. And even then, that individual kept trying to have a general conversation, no one threw a glance. That didnt stop there. Another instance, another individual (again an asian), was asking for a prayer for her mom in room. While there were lots of people yapping in room, but not even one came forward for the prayer. Not even a word of sympathy, they were busy talking about Kittens and Walmarts, and I had to catch up in PM with the individual lest he be left hopeless.
Someone mentioned that "there are bad apples and good apples" , well, I wouldnt be concerned, if it was a heathen Chat room, but we are talking about a Christian chat room. And there is no "bad Christian" or "good Christian". Either one is Christian or one is not. And you know a Tree by its Fruits.
I did try to confront people in Chatroom, as I was devastated by their response to someone asking for prayer, they however defended themselves pretty well, one of them even saying "Just because we dont want to talk with someone doesnt make us bad" and another one "I dont think we need to show how Christian we are all the time.". Never heard that you can take breaks from "being Christian". Ofcourse they voiced me down, because they had a group.
The Carnality is quite astonishing, and worse part is those who have, it dont see it because they have people just like them, who claim to be "Christian" and back each other's act.
I am ofcourse not generalizing it over everyone in the Chatroom, or every non-asian, because I have amazing friends from round the globe, in this chat room and out of it. I am just voicing out what I have observed. And If it would have been a small group of people, I wouldnt have given it much thought, but its a big chunk of groups, preferring to talk vanity in Chatrooms and ignoring completely, anyone who doesnt fall in their Group, Country or mannerism. Sorry to pop the bubble, but This kinda act is not Christian at all.
A hint would be to just sneak in at any given time, in the Lounge room, and see how many asians are actually being involved in a conversation.
Ofcourse, Race should not be a hindrance for fellowship, thats like obvious thing. How about we start acting like it ?
