I have noticed many people on here are angry with me because I hold the premise that I owe the third world absolutely nothing and have no interest in making the slightest financial or contribution of any sort. Further, I have noticed that any claim I make that I am not exactly the most financially wealthy person myself to begin with is completely ignored by hypocrites of your sort.

I was actually struck by yet another amusement of the pious self righteous give everything to the poor quoters on here and in churches. IF THE LECTURES I AM BEING GIVEN ABOUT THE NEED TO GIVE TO THE THIRD WORLD ARE SO VALID TO THE "CHRISTIANS" MAKING THEM, THEN WHY DO CHURCHES ALL HAVE GOOD SIZED PARKING LOTS????? How come all of you people who say this is so important haven't sold your cars, donated all the proceeds to the third world and taken up public transit???

CAN YOU SAY "HYPOCRITES"?

Common persecuted. we all know giving is a good thing... there's no disputing that. Just find a place you trust. If and I stress if you want to, try donating to the American Bible Society. It's the surest way to spread God's word to places that don't have Bibles.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!! Amulti-topical thread. Cool! :D
(maybe now others won't get derailed...oops....nevermind...happened anyway....)

Topic 1: I can't imagine that most of the people on here have never known lean financial times. I have. But where I live, people who are truly poverty stricken don't own computers or pay for Internet access. Or are you typing from prison? :D

Topic 2: Jesus rode animals and in boats. He understood transportation needs. I live in the country. If I didn't have a car:

- I couldn't get to work on time everyday to earn money to take care of myself and my son so no one else has to
- I couldn't earn money to help anyone else
- I need it to travel all over the country to do my job because it's cheaper than air fare

Topic 3: Hypocrit. Such a lyrical word.............;) I think I'm gonna put that on a t-shirt and wear it to one of those huge extravacant churches that I don't like.:D

Oops! *Looks @ Rolex*....Gotta go! Time to polish my Lamborghini. Oh wait! That's my chauffeur's job. :p

The Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25:31-36 NIV)

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

I laughed when I saw the title of this thread. But the humor is in the truth:

McReligion and Churchianity have made the Building and the Parking Lot the gods.

Home church is a real and viable and practical approach. The New Testament Church is a
home church. All the denominational and mega-whatever wrangling ends there.

The Third World is also in need of Repentance, not so much of material things, but for self
control in sexual matters. HIV/AIDs as a result of multiple partners/wives and the large
number of illegitimate births, as well as the large family size (Tanzania for example, a
relatively modest and stable country, but with many Lutheran or Catholic ties, has an
average family size of 5+ children).

The western world is in need of repentance from it's worldly, material and fleshly
mindset. It's demise will be from it's reliance on machines (mecca-nized), technology,
government and religion, in which there is no hope.

"Abundant Life" is a spiritual abundance, not worldly, material or fleshly ...

PRACTICAL REPENTANCE UNTO SALVATION

For the same reason that movie theaters, malls, and wal-mart have good sized parking lots. Unless you wan't to go by walking that's totally fine, you can support the cause against parking lots that way.

Churches have the responsability of making good management of the money they have. They're obviously gonna priorize in local matters first, in order to help those who're closer to them. If they don't do this, the church might disapear and they won't be able to carry their good work. And many churches do their part in helping poor countries with mission trips, maybe it's not your idea of a HUGE donation, but it's also because church is not a big wealthy company.
I always believe we should help when we can, within reasonable means. You're obviously not gonna make your family starve to death in order to help other countries. You're entitled to help whoever you want, whenever you want. When we help others, we shouldn't do it for other people's approval; we should rather do it because our Lord commanded us to love each other.

Persecuted, you should give when God says give, not when others say to or how much they say. I understand that it's hard to give money, especially if your not making much or don't have a job. When people say that you have up give x amount of dollars or God wil not bless you, they are taking the focus off of God and putting all the righteousness upon them. Does this remind anyone of a story from the Bible?

And if you felt inclined to help others, there are other ways to help that does not include money; such as reading to children, babysitting children for a single parent, helping to feed the homeless at a homeless shelter, or listenIng to someone that bedridden.

I think the church parking lots here are getting larger because there's too many chickens getting killed in the streets that lead to places they didn't want to go to in the first place. No place better than a church parking lot for a grand chicken BBQ roast to raise money to send overseas where chickens fear to tread/ or is it re-tread....

At any rate; thanks for your contribution. It all smells pretty good to me.

I believe we should help the poor, and Jesus said, sell all you have and give to the poor, and the rich should distribute their money to the poor, and having food and clothing be content, but I have not seen anybody do that.

The truth is not too many people really does it Jesus' way, they do not go that far,but they hold back, like Ananias and his wife Sapphira in the book of Acts chapter 5.

They say give to the poor, and they give a little, enough to make them feel good, but they hold back, and do not give like Jesus' told them how to give, but then because of their little giving that satisfies them, they dog other people who do not give, but they themselves hold back and do not give like Jesus' said,so they too would be guilty, for to give nothing,or to partially give when Jesus said give all, they would both still be guilty, and I have not seen one that actually gave all, seeing they still have televisions, motorcycles, boats, stereos, recreational vehicles, video game systems, snowmobiles, and general goodies, but Jesus said, sell all that is unnecessary and of the world, and give to the poor, and then you shall be perfect, but who can find such a one.
