OK - some of you may remember my "Date from Heck" story in which we went on a bike ride, then for ice cream and the lady treated the counter girl like crap. I now have a follow up:

At the art studio, there was this young lady painting while I was working on my latest stained glass project (which I hope to finish tonight, but I digress...). We talked a bit, and I mentioned to her that she reminded me of a high school friend of mine. She replied with "I get that a lot."

I then experienced some deja vu, remembering that I said the exact thing to the counter girl at the ice cream place, wondering if she were a daughter or a niece of my high school friend, and she responded the same way. We talked more and it turns out that this is the very same girl that my date treated so poorly! Small world.

I also discovered that my date also went home and complained to Cold Stone about the worker and she got an earful from her manager the next day. Ugh! This girl was nothing but perky and professional throughout the whole ordeal

This type of thing is why the saying "the customer is always right" turns my stomach. Some customers are overgrown bullies who don't care that their antics could take somebody's job for no good reason. Or they think that the business owes them all kinds of unrealistic favors simply because they purchased something. I think it's a game to some of them (mostly women in my experience, haha) to see how much the employees will put up with.

And of course they always have the option to do as much damage as possible through yelp or another review site, if the business won't bend to their unrealistic demands.

the other day, i got a call at work. a lady who wanted to schedule a new patient appointment. i told her the next available appointment i had for a new patient was for monday. i could tell she didn't like that but "might as well since there's nothing else that i can do about that."

"wait. before i schedule, is it difficult to get in to see the chiropractor? once i'm an established patient?" i explained it all depends when she calls. earlier in the week, there are more opportunities verses calling at the end of the week. she then complains to me about her insurance and asked what our self-pay prices are. after being on the phone with her for what felt like forever, she then said she wasn't going to "drive out all the way over there" and was going to find a place closer.

I am going back to Oregon tomorrow. There is much rejoicing...but I will miss my family. It has been just plain too hot here this visit.

I've had two emotional breakdowns in a week.

I've been realizing just how alone I am. In every sense.

Dear Catherder and PopClick: The customer is always right, but sometimes needs to be reminded of the possibility of being "dead right." If ya know what I mean.

You have no family or friends? Or...are you just very aware of being single at the moment (with no seeming prospects)?

i know you know this.. But delight yourself in the Lord, do things that you enjoy and open yourself up to men who enjoy the same things. If God has you in a period of waiting, wait on him... But if not, go get it girl.

I'll tell you the truth though, if you love your life and like and respect yourself, you are going to draw men to you...choose wisely!

My cat...I swear, curiosity just might actually kill him.

I'm doing plenty more video recording than this. And my youth pastor was pretty impressed with how well my camera works. :D

Interesting point you made Olerica. Just curious to know from your perspective why?

Is it because sometimes they are not informed well enough? Lack of knowledge/understanding?

Often it is. I run a business, and there is a balance. Often I am asked to do things outside my business comfort zone... And I may not be able to act the way a customer would like, or they may need a better education on my product...but if I get something really wrong, I make it right if I can

Just Hey!
Today I did something cool ;)
I walked up with my old dog,
and we found something great...
It's...
It's something secret,
I can't reveal it ;)

I feel your pain. Stuff like that is why I didn't like being a retail pharmacy tech. Most of the time it was 'the system's" fault though, not the customer's (drugs awaiting authorization, prescriptions not called in by doctor, drug price increases, etc...)
