Did you hear about the mother who had to show ID to buy some spices?

She was picking up some of the usual things - garlic, basil, cinnamon, cloves and the like - but at the checkout the clerk asked to see her ID.

"I'm not buying liquor. Shoot, I'm not even buying sudafed. Just some spices."

"Yes ma'am, but one of the spices you are purchasing is cardamom. And as you are a mom, I'm going to need to see some ID please."

So anyway, happy mother's day y'all.

The ID made me think of something really strange. Have any of you noticed that people are getting younger and younger? If I had been a clerk selling liquor I would probably been asking 35 year old kids for ID lol.

Yeah either they're getting younger or I'm getting...

Uh...

Yeah, I sure have noticed how young they're getting these days.

I w*rk at a McDonald's and some of the teenagers look young enough I wonder that they can tie their shoes. But they probably think I'm old enough that it's a wonder I can stand up straight.

I know the steroid era is looked upon with a frown but man I wish we can get those level of offenses again. I remember when I was voting for the ASG, every single position in both leagues was just full of guys with OPS's in the .700's. Some with .800's, barely anyone reached a.900 OPS. Look at the MVP Votes for the 2000 season look at the crazy stats the hitters put up.

19 hitters had an OPS over 1. You have guys finishing 15-20 in MVP voting in each league who would finish top 5 today, some may even win it. I know "yeah the steroid era inflated stats blah blah blah" but man it must have been fun to see crazy offenses score runs.

Ugh. Think about what it must have been like to be a player back then. Everybody knew steroids were technically wrong, but everybody did them anyway. If you didn't want to use steroids you were pretty much left in the dust.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
(Psalm 34:18 NIV)

Hope you feel better, Lanolin.

I have done come up with a new tradition I'm gonna call Hidden Horn Day. It'll be July fifth.

All the people what couldn't sleep July fourth will instead go crawling through the bushes hiding noisemakers. These noisemakers will be set to go off about 6am on July fifth, or some maybe 6:30 or 6:45.

This could be more or less personal - some might hide the noisemakers in the fireworks shooters' houses, depending on how upset a person is about being kept awake and how much a person knows about the offending person's personal security system. Probably won't have to worry about the fireworks guy's dog though. He's off hiding in the basement.

July fifth the noisemakers go off and the fireworks people gotta get up and find and silence them. This could be a whole subcategory of fun, depending on how easy or hard it is to reach the hiding places.

After it catches on we'll have the usual amazon.com choice - do we want a few high quality, VERY loud noisemakers or do we want a lot of cheap chinese so-so noisemakers for the same money?

I notice the mobile layout has changed a bit. Thanks admin.

I notice it because ever since I got this taller, thinner phone, I have to turn it sideways to see alerts. Now suddenly I don't have to turn it sideways anymore.

People comfortable being swaddled in their lies, despise the light of truth flashing into the darkness. Their eyes squint, they scream, throw a fit, nestle deeper into their swaddle of lies, and pray to their god of lies for the light to go away.

Ever notice how the more convenient life becomes, the less patient people become?
Being patient is something we learn, and something we forget.

We used to call it being spoiled rotten. But these days I don't hear anybody using that term.

The more free and prosperous people are, the more ungrateful for that they become also.

This is why, unfortunately, we need God to discipline us. Freedom and comfort must be removed.
