Oh every woman's dream, a scale from her husband! Actually after reading some of that why men should make the first move thread, I think there are a couple of men who would buy their future wives scales. Some people wonder why they can't find a mate, I think I know several reasons.

I'm itching to create a new thread based on a discussion I started on Facebook. Within the comment section of my post, it resulted in some great encouragement and edification back and forth between brothers and sisters in Christ.

However... I could easily see certain people here derailing it into monster thread of negativity. :( *sigh* I'm not sure if its worth the risk.

It would be nice to have one thread without strife and debate. Never hurts to try Loveneverfails.

Say I'm having a discussion with Praus or TinTin or Ugly or LiveWire or whoever.

There is always going to be that person who just sees the whole thing as a confrontational conflict.

"All this fighting is stressing me out!"

"Why can't we all just get along"

"Kumbaya my LORD Kumbaya!!!!"

It happens in chat, it happens in here, I've seen it at the Dog park too.

We are going to disagree and present our points; that doesn't make it a negative discussion.

I say go for it. Don't censor yourself to please people who are going to be trolls anyways.

Someone give me a hug and distract me with happy thoughts before the asian stereotypes in a nearby thread make my heart explode. :(

*Hugs* Don't pay attention to all that negativity, there will always be people trying to put individuals in a cage. I've been there, it's not worth the stress and frustration.

Now to cheer you up: an American song sang by a Mexican group of children :)

Oh, no, I don't have anything against disagreements. It is quite possible to disagree with tact and respect. We learn from sharing different points of view.
What I meant by a "monster thread of negativity" is more like when someone takes what is meant to be uplifting and tries to make everyone depressed and/or angry.

Example:
Say I post a thread where anyone interested can discuss what their favorite kind of food is. It's all lighthearted and fun until someone posts about McDonalds. In response, someone comes along and starts talking about McDonald's is of the devil and anyone who eats there is clearly a brainless devil worshiper and should be ashamed of themselves. The thread then digresses into a discussion about how our choice of restaurant doesn't actually factor into our salvation and it doesn't mean that McDonald's customers all hate the poor cows and chickens that are being mistreated by McDonald's suppliers

At this point, the original jollity of the thread is lost, the original topic is a distant memory and everyone is just irritated.

THATS what I meant by trying to avoid negativity. I'm not trying avoid people disagreeing with me, and I'm certainly not trying to please any trolls. I'm just exhausted by a certain genre of thread topic and I could easily see my thread topic turning into one of those should a troll come along.

that said, I guess there's really nothing I can do about trolls and all I can do is hope for the best.
I'll think about it some more and maybe ill post the thread later.

Thanks guys. :)

Conversation I over heard at the Dollar Tree: Patron: "Do you have any of those decorative angels left?" Worker: "If there aren't any there, I'm afraid not. We should have a shipment of new things tomorrow, you can check then or Monday, or you can call us." Patron: "I am finishing my Christmas shopping today, I ain't coming back, I ain't, I really ain't." Worker: "Uh, OK." Patron: "I can't believe he wanted me to come back, I ain't comin back."

I really wished that worker would have said: "Oh NO! The commission I'd get from that dollar angel sale would've fed my family for a year!"

I don't think I could work there.

I don't want to be controlled; I don't want to have any other human being telling me what is or is not alright for me to do. I don't want to live in fear of a person who claims to love me judging me for my choices and making me feel bad for making them.

I'm a big girl, I have a brain, and oh hey, I'm also a Christian.

I'm not out partying every night.
I don't do drugs.
I don't kick puppies.
I'm not dishonest.

But apparently, I am still wrong. Apparently, I cannot be trusted to make a decision for myself.

I think maybe I have a lot of anger and confusion going on right about now.
...it makes me want to kick puppies...

The hunter may unknowingly be the hunted.
The hand convinced it sets the trap may very well be going for the cheese instead.
The one who thinks he knows a thing may only know the crumbs intentionally left for him, and will usually tip his hand prematurely.

Loveneverfails,

I've been thinking about trolls, and how to deal with them in a virtual world.

In a world of pixels and binary, how do you, with all Christian love and gentleness,
put someone's bloody head on a spike as a warning to others?

I don't have the answer just yet... but I'm working on it.
: )
