I just am. I'm a coward when it comes down to the line on some things. I'd rather just ignore things at work, laugh off discussionis or questions, than say what I really think and risk making things uncomfortable and awkward between my coworkers and I. Perhaps it's only a perceived notion that it would make things awkward when in reality maybe they wouldn't care, but I find it hard to take the risk so far.

There's a certain balance. It's like I know they aren't Christians so I can't expect them to act like it, but I need to be more bold.

Edited to add: They don't ask questions about my faith. If they did, I would answer honestly and boldly. But in other areas that they talk about, I have opportunities I could use to talk about it or what I believe, and I don't.
Rachel, I don't think that there are ANY here who have failed a test when it comes to "fear of man" at some point. It IS scary, when you have to listen to an office room hush when you enter, or low murmurs. It can make you feel paranoid. Sometimes I wonder if just being thrown to the lions and getting it over with would be easier. :p

But it's also an opportunity to show the strength of Christ and the joy you have through him.

Just so ya know....for you, I am now praying against any sort of self-condemnation, and for boldness. Cheers! :D

Kind of a roughish morning. Went to a men's group this morning, and the guys leading it passed out a paper regarding husbands behavior after marriage and all that stuff. Nothing wrong, nothing I disagree with, but since I'm not only single, but also divorced...kind of awkward...and put me in a slightly bitter mood. Oh well, I'll get over it.
I can relate to this.

They will usually say something like "if you're single, this will apply to you eventually." I hate that. What I hear is "if forgot about your situation and am going with our Christian social norms rather than what may actually be needed. I don't feel like adjusting my plans for you."

I'm usually okay with this and get over it as well. It kind of bothers me in a setting where the message/materials don't always match the demographic and they go with the canned materials. Oh well, that's what the discussion part is for, eh?

Good to see you posting here again!

Yeah, it's the norm. The one that really bugs me though is when they ask "do you think you'll ever get back together with your ex" and I typically say "no, it was one huge mess when we were married, and we just didn't belong together" and I get the response "well all couples fight"....ummmmmm no. GAAAAAHHHHHH!!! You don't know my life!!!!!

It's weird...I ignore someone whenever they private message me, and my box says, "I'm not a fan of private messages." and then after about the 6th time this happens, I decide to call them out...and they act like they didn't know. Well, obviously the person can read or else they wouldn't try to private message me...

I dunno. This seems to happen a lot. I don't even have a picture of me as my avatar and I don't have one up anywhere on CC. I don't talk to them...so I don't get what attracts them.

Anywho....I think I should do dishes now.

On my goodness YES!!! There is this guy from the biblestudy room who ALWAYS pm's me. I ask him to stop and he just argues with me in pm. Makes me sooo angry if I asked you to stop then stop LOL.

Went to a Deacon's retreat today, it was interesting and fun. Now going to a skating birthday party soon. Then a home selling something at a friends house later. Everything always seems to fall on the same day.

Tell them they can deal with me next time
Here's what we do, I think.

You conscript a volunteer army in the chatroom of people you trust. Of course, when you're in singles, Lil, that's most of us. When a mod is not there to handle it, you use your army of conscripts to PM flood the offender. Even three people working together for say, two minutes, should be enough to occupy the offender to the point that they can barely get to the PM box.

ctrl-c "Stop bothering Lil. She doesn't want to talk to you." Send.

Count to three.

ctrl-v, send.

Count to three

ctrl-v, send.

Imagine three (or more) people doing that for several minutes straight. PM window after PM window just continually popping up in their field of vision. It's the chatroom equivalent of "I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you!"

No no, that is a parody (as much as I love that song. :p). "Doom and Gloom" was WRITTEN by the person who calls himself "Third Eagle." He's not joking either, but you'd never know it if someone didn't tell you!!

Seriously, this made me laugh out loud. I'll be sure to let you two know the next time someone in their 40's from Egypt is private messaging me. :p

Okay, I must have misunderstood. :)

I'll tell you something you don't know, though! I haven't listened to that song you posted in years! I've almost forgot about it. So thank you for reintroducing it to me! lol
