I just heard from Dorothy in PM. She's still with us, but doesn't appear to be feeling better. So please keep praying and reaching out to her.

Dorothy, I don't know you and I'm sorry I was not here last night to pray with you. Please know that we are praying for you.

Many people in this forum have been through extremely difficult times, even to the point where we, too, considered taking our own lives. But a very loving God intervened, as I am trusting He will do for you.

God must have something amazing planned for your life or you would not be going through this right now. I pray that you will hold on to Him tightly and allow Him to show you what it is.

He loves you. We do too. I hope you can feel it.

Any word on how Dorothy is doing? I've been following this and have wanted to post something helpful and encouraging but I've not felt very helpful or encouraged myself lately and I didn't want to 'fake it'.

I pray that Dorothy is ok and that the Lord touches her heart and fills it with His overwhelming love. She really needs it. In Jesus' name, amen.

Dorothy, if you're reading this, I'm posting this psalm for you in hopes that it might give you some peace in your soul.

God bless you.

Psalm 23 (A psalm of David) - King James Version

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

She's fairly new, so i don't know if anyone would know where she lives.
Eh. There've been a few people in the past who come on here and act like they're going to commit suicide. And people try to find out where they live, trace their IP, call 911, etc. Sometimes they do it multiple times before they get caught and banned. It's against the rules here to make suicidal posts. As crazy as that sounds there's a reason for it.

Those who do it - at least some of them and probably the greater part of them - are seeking attention rather than really considering suicide. If they wanted to kill themselves then why would they sign up to a chat site to post, "I'm going to kill myself and there's nothing you can do." It doesn't make sense. Either they're reaching out or baiting attention. And both of those pretty much fall into the same category - the non-suicidal one. If they're suicidal they're going to kill themselves - probably not seek reasons to live from others or sympathy.

I don't want to judge her, and I hope she is doing well. But I just want people to be informed, too, and not overtaken with worries.

Dorothy, we are all waiting here for whenever you want to talk. I too struggle with what you are going through. Last week I thought it was it which is why i joined here and reached out to my family. Thing I recommend to do is to surround yourself with the people that love you. Remember, we weren't meant to hold ourselves up all the time or deal with our issues alone. That is what our brothers and sisters in Christ are for. We are strong in numbers. You are not alone. The enemy will NOT win this battle.

Will be praying for you as well.

I've never heard or seen that. Where is that stated?

Actually, most people who announce, whether online or in person, that they are going to commit suicide are not truly suicidal but feel they have no other option. So they speak out hoping someone or something will happen to give them hope. I know, i've been there myself. People who genuinely want to die just do it without letting people know. But even those who don't want to, but see no other option, still end up trying. So its actually not true that if someone feels to kill themselves they won't seek reasons to live. Quite the opposite, most of them will do exactly that. I've been suicidal, i've known a number of people over the years who have been and i've read up on the psychology. The large majority of people who feel suicidal want help but are afraid or ashamed to ask for it. Or don't have the means to get it. Its actually fairly common for a suicidal person who really does want to live to make multiple statements about killing themselves. Always in hope someone steps in and gets them help. If after multiple tries no changes happen, then they kill themselves.

Hi Dorothy,
Life is what you make of it.
This will pass
Nothing in this world is worth taking our own life
Don't let people get you down
Rise up and be strong in the Lord and your own life!
You can do it!

I was not going to post this here, but God is not going to let me let it go.

I've worked a lot of suicides. People very close to me have taken their own lives...violently. I considered it myself once as a teen. I've seen suicides by cop. You name it, I've seen it. Oftentimes it is the person you least expect to do it who is actually successful in taking their own life. It's not a game. It's nothing to be taken lightly.

Sometimes people make threats to get attention, but SOMETIMES those situations for attention ESCALATE and they actually DO end up taking their own lives (usually because they cried wolf once too often and no one shows up in time), whether they actually meant to or not. Either way, the result is the same.

Sometimes people seriously do not see any other way out, but would certainly welcome one. They feel desperate and alone. They feel hopeless. I can't imagine that anyone reading this has not felt lost and alone at one time or another.

Some people know exactly that they want to do. They want to end it all...the pain...the suffering...the hopelessness..., not realizing that it is just the BEGINNING of suffering, not only for themselves, but for those who care about them as well.

God's people are called to be people of love and compassion. So, whether someone is playing around, doing something for attention or is so lost in depression that they are considering suicide, we have to take them ALL seriously.

Pray. Pray. Did I say PRAY??? PRAY!

Care. Listen. Encourage. Be there.

If someone is playing with you like this, it's on them. If not....do you really want to live with that?

Ask RoboOp. He's seen it before many times. Someone comes on. Narrates how they're committing suicide by cutting their wrists or taking pills. Narrates how they're dying. Then several days later they're not dead yet but back on, and doing the same thing in another chat room or forum thread. I guess I could see people coming in and asking for encouragement and talking about having suicidal thoughts. If that's the case we should probably do what we can to encourage them, especially if we can relate.

But if they just come in to narrate their suicide what's the point? I think people whose primary goal is to physically harm and kill themselves are probably already too far gone to seek help. They don't care about themselves. They don't care if anyone else cares about them. Screw the world and themselves along with it, right? Nothing matters anymore. Not even life.

I never said it wasn't true. So i don't need to ask anyone.

And i see a lot of 'i think this and that' but i'm not really interested in what your opinions are on the matter. I have already read up on the facts, and experienced them, for that matter. So perhaps you are fine with giving up on people because your unfounded assumption is they don't care. I'll stick with what i know for sure.

Suicidal threats are tough to deal with, from my experience these can be helpful tips of contacting the needed people.
1. If you know the person''s FB, perhaps contact a family member or friend who can get help to the person. (this might even be a good idea if you know the person is considering it period)
2. If you can, try to get their address/phone number/facebook/any contact information and have it handy if you ever need to contact the authorities.
3. If you can try to get some long distance coverage or download skype and buy some credits for you can make long distance phone calls (if you know someone in England who's about to kill themselves and you are from america, it can benefit you to contact their countries authorities from skype or a long distance provider), if you have no long distance coverage or skype, your local authorities may be able to help too.

Prayers for this situation and many others that appear on the internet, God bless!
