I can regale quite a few summer camp songs. that bring back some fond memories when I recall their names. For now, just that one mentioned, here it is as I know it in it's entirety, being sung under campfire , clear skies many moons ago.in my life.:)
----
Don't want to be uh hype-O-crit, don't wanna be a hype-O-crit.
No thoughts about bein' it. Don't wanna be a hype-O-crit.

Don't wanna be a goat, nope. Don't wanna be a goat, nope. Ain't no hope being
a goat, nope. Don't wanna be a goat, nope.

Just wanna be a child of God. Just wanna be a child of God. Want a Holy Spirit temple bod. Just wanna be a child of God.
----
Ok, I forgot the third stanza was impromptu, hey, maybe one and two stanzas too, but if it works-like singing karaoke but different-then its all good, right. ;) So, that's the thread, quit camping that brainpan of yours, time to open the door in there to remember that good music. And, sure, if you want, you're welcome mentioning how a camp song CHANGED YOur LiFe , or camp CHANGED you, is fine to testimonially add that all in their too quickly:)

it's your turn, let's get a good start on summer, summer, summer, girls. And, boys :)

Well, I'm probably not the one to answer this, as the few times I went to summer camp were, quite possibly, some of the worst times I've ever had...

This is a prayer we would sing before meals at Girscout camp.

Oh- the Lord is God to me,
for giving me the things I need,
the sun and the rain and the apple seed
the Lord is good to me.

Ah, Julieannie, that's too baddie. :)

But the Lord leads, you just go wherever He tell ya best ya can I reckon . I'm fixin' to give you another great camptime # from my Miracle Ranch days , by the way, you like my southernspeak, belle?

--- In the stars His handiwork I see.
For it has a place in history.
Though He ruleth over land and sea, what is that to me???

''Til by faith I met Him face to face, oh-wo-oh-oh, and, felt the wonder of His grace, oh-wo-oh-oh.
'Til I knew He was more than just a God who didn't care who-uh lived uh way up there, WHOOSH (DO hand movement, hands together as make 'whoosh' sound).

Now He walks besides me day by day, watching over me lest I stray. Helping me to find that narrow way. He's everything to me.
----
This song I've sung in church too. :)

Awwwwww! Hmmm....well, I have the perfect solution then! :)

In Greens other thread about missions, I posted that we should all take a missions trip to TN to go see Aaron and take him on a proper church camp experience since he has bad memories.

Now if you come too Jullianna...then you can say you have been. :) lol

(don't think Aaron is game though....we may have to kidnap him. ;) )

I got saved through church camp :D

I know too many to bore you guys with... but here's one that we sang to that's a tongue-twister.

Grin-a-gin gang get a gung-ho about Jesus.
Smile sweetly Susan so you send Satan sadly away.. hey hey!
Buck up brother Bill because a bunch of bitter boys became a bunch of better boys behind a big big smile!
Grin-a-gin gang get a gung-ho about Jesus!

(the third line is sung almost as quickly as the others haha!)

Now THAT, Riss, is a good camp song, I wish we would have sung one like that, but we did sing one like this THANKS (not really) to our camp counselor who was in our cabin.

I hated to get up early in the morning but we pretty much had no choice and THIS is how we got up, two years in row had good ole JR for camp cabin counselor.

Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory.
Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory.

(Then came the big JR FINALE as he raised his voice and began coming over to those still not showing signs of getting up and pulling on tge ends of their sleeping bags, etc. , I was a good candidate for that kind of treatment. I hated getting up mornings all my kiddom life. )
:)

Rise and SHINE and give GiVE GOD THE GLORY, GLORY , CHILDREN OF THE LORD.

Those who know could tell you.. but they can't. Unless you know. But you don't. Otherwise you would have been.. and recognized. but you didn't... so I can't tell you. lol

Go on an Emaus walk or Discipleship Walk, or something in the same likeness, and then I can tell you. But THEN you would already know. :D

Hey, Riss, why not follow that song up with, 'The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round early in the mor-ning.' :)
Or, is that the song saved for the ride home?:)
Were you leading that super silly song on the way to a high school retreat?
That's cool, whatever, funny song, you would make a good tour guide .:)

THEY'RE SLEEPING !!

I blame my inability to have heard you, Ríss, on my medula oblongata, cerebrum, and cerebellum missing what you said. :)

Another camp song, what, cc friends, is that what you want from me??? Ok, I'll fire another campy # just for you from my brainpan.:)

A, errrr-R, mmmmmm, la, himmm, herrrr, hummmRIBBIT (Green tunes in the vocal cords and clears the frog from his throat at the same time)

Now, ladies and gents, this song does bring back the memories of my fifth grade self looking across the camp chapel chairs at the girls and just thinking, thinking, thinking......like one of my favorite móvies, Tootsie, where song, Maybe It's You, played lovelly in the background as Jessica Lange sat and swinged, thinking of her predicament to love RH even though he lied to her. (Chick flic, but fun for GUYS, too)

Ok, to the song, and, I mean, REALLLY, where in the world is carmen san diego DID that come from?? :)

-----It only takes a spark to-ooo get a fi-ur going. And soon all those around will warm UP to its glowing.
That's how it is with God's love, once you've experienced, it's fresh like spring, ring, ring, ring, and, you want to pass it on.

The next line starts, 'What a wondrous time in spring....'

The memories, sigh. :)
