I did that for awhile, but stopped about a year or so ago. It was beginning to give me abs that looked a bit less feminine than I cared for. :) It's KILLER!!! But effective!

No doubt. The Ab Ripper routine made me dizzy my first week of P90X. I opted to do a variation doing crunches until I got a little more used to the workout. My personal goal is to continue to work my arms, abs and chest. However, my overall goal is to be in the best shape of my life at age 40. :D

I've been a dancer all of my life and teach dance in my spare time for fun, so I'm used to tough workouts...but that one is truly KILLER :)

Did anyone notice in this thread that it's mostly guys who have issues with someone of the opposite gender having weight issues? I've never known it to be that much of an issue for women. I can't speak for all of them, of course, but I don't expect guys to be as into fitness as I am. My concern is mostly for their health and activity level. Maybe it has something to do with that guys being more visual than women thing...

I just know there's some sort of connection here as to why guys obsess over the remote. I just can't put my finger on it. (no pun intended! ..ok maybe :)

I was surprised in looking at this thread to see it was from so long ago...

I dunno, Jullianna, I think it goes both ways. I think it's just more acceptable for men to be able to have issues - it's not uncommon to see a guy with a girl who is much more attractive than he, but it's a bit more rare to see it the other way around. Even so, something I look for in someone else is health. I work out frequently and eat healthy and I feel like if I'm going to take care of myself like such, then it shouldn't be unreasonable to look for a man with a similar lifestyle.

That said, I'm also not incredibly thin - or thin even... so I get into this weird mixed place where I feel like how much I do work to be healthy isn't necessarily reflected in "the perfect body" (who are we to try to define perfection anyway?) so how is it okay for me to aspire to find another healthy human?

...I had a couple of friends from camp that were talking a lot over the distance and had come to the conclusion they enjoyed one another and might want to date. The guy, at some point, said something to the affect of "I would still love you if you gained weight." She essentially said that if he gained 100 lbs she would not want to be with him anymore - because she was working hard to stay fit and he'd be letting himself go. I understand her reasoning. I think it's just good to either a) be on the same page or b) not care.

I agree that for ladies it seems to be more about health issues. I would like to be with someone who cares about this for two reasons: As I have said before the idea of being widowed again early in life is not appealing and if a guy doesn't care about eating healthy and exercise/being active, those bad habits can eventually be accepted by his lady. Encouragement from your partner with regard to healthy habits is sooooo important, isn't it?
