I treated my mom and took her to see the Hobbit yesterday for her birthday and we loved, loved, LOVED it! It felt good going back to the Shire 
I saw it at the new UltraAVX theatre near my house. The sound and picture were amazing! I felt like I was THERE, man!
I had my doubts at first, like... why three movies for one book when the Lord of the Rings was three books in three movies? Plus I saw the less than positive reviews for it and it lowered my expectations. Nasty critics! Made me prepare myself for disappointment when in fact the opposite happened! DON'T READ THE REVIEWS! They are all a bunch of hard-pressed grumps! Go see it!
