Go for a jog around the park.

Can you tell me a book or verse in the bible that talks about focus?
----

Does this count? It certainly speaks about a focal point that one needs to not lose focus that it is horroribly real.

II Thessalonians 1: 8-9 ~ In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey (focus?) the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.

Want to focus a little more on this Hellish topic?

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

These verses from Thessallonians, and, Revelation, firmly are focused on the eternal repercussions of not putting your ultimate focus of your life on God and Jesus, and, not mentioned but included, the Holy Spirit.
-----
Why is it so many people think.its so hard to take the next step past non-getting to know people with HOPE that a flame could spark?

Perhaps they're tired of watching the spark die.

Has anyone told you that you're awesome today? (because you are..)

God tells me that all the time, today included . :)

If you were wrongly imprisoned like Paul or, perhaps, Amanda Knox, would you stay faithful to God in there? Why?

(stares at computer, mouth drops open, the faint noise of crickets chirping can be heard in background) (regains composure) WHY ON EARTH DID YOU DO THAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!............ Uh, not trying to pry, but have you been properly delivered yet? Slightly worried, brother........

Well, nothing seems crazy compared to Brandon's answer, but I do still ride shopping carts through the supermarket parking lot (you know, one foot on the bracing bar between the back wheels, kicking with the other foot...........looks pretty crazy at my age, 'specially if I'm wearing heels.......fun, though! :)

Which Bible character do you most resemble (in your opinion), and why?
I havn't been properly delivered yet. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get rid of demonic oppression. I also wasn't fully sane at the time. What's the most extreme thing you've ever done? Don't hold back, because it's going to come out at Judgement Day anyway.

Brando, in scripture it says that some things need prayer and fasting to get past, and....driving OUT demons is included of those things. I pray for you, Brando, to be RELEASED! in the name of Jesus from the something still inside you !
.....
....
Do you NOW believe you are better, Brando ? :) Here is verse from bible too: Mark 9: 17-29. The last verse pay close attention to.and this will be my question I ask as I first answer your question by saying the most extreme thing I ever did was put a knife to my heart as a schizophrenic acquaintance was threatening me so he found out I would still love himeven if he killed me then, every single cut-up.piece ...Yes, I was referring to Corrie Ten Boom's The Cross And The Switchblade.
Why couldn't the disciples drive out the demon (unclean spirit) from the father's boy?
Jesus answers this question in one word in one of the verses between mark 9: 19-23, actually, in different words God answers the reason 'WHY' in two different verses.

Can you list one of the two verses and the key word(s) from the verse?

I'll tell you my story. I got demon oppressed. That much you know. Then I found out about it and prayed for it to go away just like that. Then after nothing happened I tried it again, and again and again and again and a couple more times. Then with different people, then with a missionary, then with a pastor, then with two pastors, then with an assembly of people. And each time the attacks lessened directly afterwards for some days. But I'm still oppressed. Not as badly as before. Don't tell me I didn't believe because that would be wrong. I did believe, that is until reality forced my cognitive mind to assess that what I thought was true was not true. Now I'm convinced there are certain people that God gives gifts (Spiritual gifts or Spiritual empowerments if you will) found listed in Peter one of which is the discerning of spirits where they specialize in what they call deliverance ministries. But these things as it turns out are incredibly packed with people who need help because so many people are out there with my problem. I'd have to wait in line for months and then fly to Texas to be delivered. And I decided it's just not worth that.

I would not have put my neck anywhere near a crazy person with a switchblade. Consider this verse and tell me what you think. Don't say God loves the sinner but hates the sin. Really consider what the verse says from a straight reading. Psalm 11:5 "The Lord test the rightious and the wicked and the one who loves violence, His soul Hates." Let's look at another one. Jeremiah 12:8 My heritage has become to me as a lion in the forest: she has uttered her voice against me; therefore I have hated her. Romans 9:13 "Jacob I loved but Esau I hated" This is quoted from Malachi 1:3. Psalm 5:5 "The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers."

Those quotes are powerful, amen, Brandon, I appreciated reading them. :)
But, from what you just said, you tried 'praying' to release the demon(s) still inside you, and, by the way, I'm sorry if I sounded like you usen't prayed, as I was only wanting to procuren scripture for how Jesus said the demon could be driven from the man.

Demons go in differen ways, and, BELIEVING is important , and, i am sure you've done that too.

Brando, and, just wondering , you're not related to 'marlin' by any chance ;), no, seriously, the verses of mark 9: 19-23 speak of Jesus , red letter edition, saying that some.THINGS (not JUST demons ) can only be beaten, so to speak by....

Jesus speaking: PRAYER and FASTING

And, as the demon-possessed boy's father said, immediately to Jesus' words to Him of IF YOU CAN BELIEVE, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE , the boy's father replied (mark 9:24): Lord, I believe; help my unbelief .

So, THIS is what the Lord has me speaking of demon possession, God bless you for your belief in God, Brando, for everything good resultant of THAT. You will win THIS battle with Death if you fight it with Life, His given you to follow Him, and, you are RIGHT, God allows GREAT aspirers to do Kingdom things ACCESS for Satan's inroads to your life, just like Job. Read Job cover to cover to see this work of Satan that is overcome by God, showing, like the crucifiction (and rising again of Christ) that He wins over Satan.
:)

Have you ever been persecuted for taking a stand for Christ among good friends, or, even family?

I have prayed and fasted on 4 or 5 occasions.

My friends are either Christian or Christian tolerant and my family even extended is saved, so no.

What makes God great for you?

I see, Brandon, I just encourage you to keep.praying and fasting and then since Jesus/Godis readily available to us, through the Holy Spirit. Ask someone in your church to pray over you to bring the Holy Spirit inside of you. Because that will immently change how you feel spiritually.

Verse: Greater is He who is in me than He who is in the world.

----I am not a pastor, just a fellow brother in Christ, trying to help.you LOOSE what's hard for.you to get rid of inside you, Brandon.

Answering your question about what makes God great in my life: The believable way He rules my life, the awesomeness of it all.

Tobe, your humor is odd sometimes, not sure what you mean by what you said. The Lord leads.
From what I read on here of your posts, you ate very frank. Nothing wrong with that, no one was more frank than Jesus when He was on Earth. :)

Before giving advice, pray, pray, and then pray some more. Depending on the person, I might say something like the following:

"No man can serve two masters. " That it's always better follows God's way, even if it's hard to do so. And that I can understand falling into the World's trap, because everyone does so. However, if you keeps following the World, then your basically of the World and not following God. And when you claim to be a Christian, the World holds you to a different standard, otherwise they think you are nothing but a hypocrite.

Also, if he keeps sinning, you may have to distance your self, while he's sinning. But even then, let that person know you will always be a friend, and will be there for him.

I challenged myself last year by moving to a new place to begin again. It's going okay, but I'm thinking it won't be the last time. :)

Why do so many "Bible" threads have more to do with theology/theologists than scripture?

Theology is the summarizing of scripture. That's a fairly basic explaination. The Theologian would be teaching a doctrinal concept, based on scripture.

Are you Trinitarian? Do you believe that God the Father, The Son, and Holy Spirit are God but in three distinct persons? If so, this is a theological concept. The bible does not once proclaim the word "trinity". Rather this is a title given to a theological concept. Just as with anyother theological title.

It is comparable to scientific data, and scientific theorizing, except, that the bible does indeed tell us what to believe.

Part of the reason why there isn't near as much scripture posted in Bible Discussion threads, I think, is because many of the people know the theological concepts being discussed (i.e. oneness vs. trinity, arminian vs calvinist, YEC vs OEC... etc etc) and as a result not every verse needs to be listed for people to understand what is being taught. I however, would like to see more verses posted on certain topics that are very important in their scope and effects in our understanding of who God is.

I hope this is satisfactory.
