I promise I'm not asking in defiance but rather would like to know what it is that separates a Catholic from the Christian?
Two different Gospels. One is a Gospel of Works, and the other is a Gospel of Grace.

Hmm...I just read through all of the posts and didn't see anyone who said they were "non-denom"/attended "non-denom" churches, so I'm not sure to whom some of the ad hominem posts are addressed.

To those who defend denominations: Denominations are caused by fear. When we fear confrontation, we run away. When Christians do not confront other Christians in love, they build up a fear that the other is "of the devil" and split off.

So many of us are so afraid of hearing any teaching that we disagree with, that we are willing to start a whole new denomination, just to avoid conflict! We take offense over opinions, and over things that were never made plain in the Scripture. Christ warned against this after the Last Supper, and there is NO DEFENDING THE ACTION OF SPLITTING.

If we can agree with the simple gospel, that "Christ died for our sins, and rose from the dead", then we are brothers and sisters. There is nothing more, but trust in that statement.
Men will add more requirements to salvation, but they need to be corrected, not avoided.

If Christians confidently trusted the "Jesus died for our sins, and rose from the dead" then there would be NO denominations. Because Christ is sufficient, the rest is application. Problem is, very few "Christians" are confident in what they are saved by...

jimmydiggs: Almost. Christians believe in salvation by Grace Alone, whereas Catholics believe in salvation by grace + works.

LT: So what do you do when the leadership of your church says "No, you can buy your relatives into heaven, and we're booting you out of the church until you agree"? Because that's where quite a number of the denominations come from.
