Thats terrible
I never watched really watched power rangers but I remember playing a pink one for a tv show. I wore the pink costume and helmet so you couldnt tell it was me. The scene was in a quarry. They needed extras and standins for some scenes. Now I would have liked to know what it was all about?!

One 'famous' suicide in the literary world that people still dont really get over was a writer/poet called Sylvia Plath. She suffered mental illness, though its often speculated that she just couldnt get over her fathers death when she was young. It seemed like she desperately wanted fame too, and decided not to believe in God after her father died.
Mental illness seems to run in her family, as her son also killed himself years later. She was a young (solo) mother when this happened, and I think was maybe in the middle of a messy divorce as he famous poet husband started having an affair. I think her two children were only babies or toddlers then? She didnt leave any note or explanation, just lots of angry poems and the famous fictional memoir, The Bell Jar.

Then her ex husband (Ted Hughes) next wife also suicided as well?!

Apparently Anthony Bourdains new girlfriend was playing around on him when he left. Though I think he had been thinking dark thoughts when his father died young and this had been always on his mind. He became quite isolated the more famous he became.

Am not sure about Robin Williams though it was said he suffered early stages of dementia? For some people they want to end it when they losing their minds so as not to be a 'burden' to others not realising their lives are precious and God can and will look after you even when you are sick.

I think in some aspects of modern life that are cruel is that people have this idea that nobody will really care for you if you ever get sick because they see hospitals as horrible places and some doctors as wanting their patients to just die cos they cant or dont know how to help them.

Oh that is so cool. You were a double for the pink ranger? lucky you. There are so many quarry scenes in Power Rangers. So, I wouldn't know which one that episode was. I've watched Mighty Morphin power rangers movie and the series. Maybe 1 or 2 seasons. Nothing beyond that. Later on, some SPD series, etc etc. Just some random episodes.

That's a sad thing when people get hurt because of their relationships. And sometimes that happens to people who don't deserve it. No one who's in a relationship deserves to be cheated on. The least a partner can do is be honest, end the relationship and then go on their way. To cheat in a relationship adds insult to injury. But that's just how the world is sometimes.

Most suicides are the result of rejection. Some can be unhappy thoughts of what had transpired in the past that led the person to take the extreme step. Mostly it's rejection or unfulfilled desires or love failure, divorce, health decline, etc. It could be the loss of a loved one. That's life. It's not all roses and sunshine and song and happiness and riches. Life is hard. Not for all. But for some, it is hard.

And in all this, a lot of people feel left alone to deal with it. And that leads to depression. Depression is a state of mind. It isn't the end of all things. Beyond all that, there is a better life for those who weather that storm.

Jesus sleeping in the storm is a very good example. Now who would do that? He slept during the storm while his disciples were hanging on for dear life. This too shall pass.

If God is for us, who can stand against us? Having faith saved my life and continues to save my life. That's what faith in God does. It saves lives.

Robin Williams is not a poor man to die like that. He can afford healthcare. Ultimately life is acceptance. People should realize that not everything is going to go their way. We have to make do with what we have and pray to God for what we don't have. If it is supposed to be for us, it will be. If it isn't, it means that there's something better for us. There's always a better life for those of us who believe and have faith.

Watched Titanic again

There was guns in it (not surprising for an American film) but the inevitable gun chase scene wasnt the most shocking violent thing..it was the punch ups. When Cal smacks Rose across the face and pushes the table over.

Maybe I was the only one in the cinema who screamed/yelped but I FELT that. I would have run away or jumped off the Titanic too. Though in this movie she jumps back on.

In the movie Rose is about to commit suicide..the back story *SPOILER* is her father died and left her and her mother in debt so she has to marry this tycoon for his money to stop her mother from entering the poorhouse or becoming a seamstress. She gets a huge bribe in the form of a huge diamond necklace.

Jack stops her from jumping ship.

oh great the book I am reading has an attempted suicide.
The authors auntie tried to slit her wrists at a wedding and then jump off a bridge stopping traffic for 8 hours.

Apparenly mental illness ran in her family...her mother and grandmother had it. and the daughter was terrified she would end up the same. It was all attributed to ghosts or demon possesion. But there seem no way of exorcising them. I'll have to read to the end to find out what happened, if I can get through all the swearing.

Its called The Woo Woo by Lindsay Wong.

Well the chinese grandmother WAS nearly raped by the Japanese who pretty much pillaged and tortured her entire family. The they escaped to Vancouver ( called Hongcouver) and set up McMansions in the mountains and grew pot. Because americans and canadians pay good money for marijuana. ?! So do the triads.

Author tried to escape all this by getting straight As in school so she could get into UBC...University of a billion Chinese. Not sure if she fully suceeded but she lived to tell about it I suppose.

Instead of learning kung fu her dad taught her how to bash others up with hockey sticks. Its Canadian condoned violence - they play hockey instead of playing with guns like cowboys do in america.

Be honest do you like violence
eg

watching fights
or blood sports
shooting guns
anything involving being hurt, blown up or killing?

I just wonder what the appeal is. I mean ok maybe it shows you are tough and big and strong but who is looking after the injured and wounded, or is it a badge of honour to have a black eye and your teeth knocked out?
Being a fan of violence (watching or causing) isn't healthy. It can taint you and it can become a part of you which is something you dont want. I find blood sports really entertaining, also am a big fan oh horror movies and 1 year ago i got diagnosed with psychosis and have been trying to fight violent irrational thoughts since then. I have noticed that every time i watch something containing violence i tend to day dream where i am in the same or similar situation and it makes my blood boil, after this kind of episodes i feel guilty and really bad about myself. My point is that its better to stay away from violent entertainment no matter how amusing it may seem cause your brain does soke it up and you never know how it may manifest itself.

Children are really sensitive to violence thats why they can't handle a lot of it but children actually witness a lot on tv and get exposed to a lot of trauma early. I don't really understand why people think its entertaining. These same children then start acting out and when they get to be adults they think everything can be solved with violence.

So many soldiers who went to war, and didn't die had problems with PTSD that they then tried to forget with alcohol and drugs. It just makes things worse.

I think if you have anger issues it's better to play sport or do something physically demanding than stew about it. Although you wonder sometimes about the rough and violent sports that children no longer want to play because people take it too seriously instead of it being fun. Oh and all the injuries that happen because of it. Nobody seems to count the cost of those. Some people seem to think carrying scars is a cool thing. Ok someone hurt you and you survived great does that make it ok to hurt them back?

funnily enough am reading about another suicidal author - Sylvia Plath whose poetry had a violence to it (most famous, 'Daddy') that came about from her German roots and feeling guilty about the Holocaust back in her time.
Her most famous novel, the Bell Jar was published only a month before she ended her own life, by gas oven.

In her novel, the first sentence is about the Rosenbergs being electrocuted, and she did experience 'electroshock' therapy after being admitted to hosptal with mental problems and depression. It was after this disastorus shock therapy that she attempted suicide by sleeping pills. Back then nobody seemed to know how to deal with mental illness, except through violent means (electic shock, lobotomy, lock up in an institution)

While some violence is needed to cast out demons, the methods people use to cast them out dont always work. Jesus pretty much just simply commanded them out by speaking because he had the spiritual authority given by his Father and the demons listened to Him.

The bio on sylvia Plath is over 1000 pages. slowly getting through it, The interesting thing is she tried to exorcise her demons by writing about them, turning it into art or poetry.

What didnt work was she in the end got sacrificed for her art, and her husband was also into the occult and not a man that was well placed to look after her. He had his own ambitions. He introduced her to the ouija board and would hypnotise her so she could write better poetry.

I dont think its wise to engage with demons, You can tell them to leave but dont try and start a conversation with them.

am now up to the part where shes pregnant with her second child but has a miscarriage

Sylvias husband is actually quite violent. They first meet at a drunken party and she famously bit his cheek and drew blood. He wont really look after her, any time she has a problem she just gets told to write a poem about it.

Violent people spill blood but dont clean up the mess. In the battlefield, they leave dead bodies lying around its not as if they go round burying the people they killed. If someone hits you, they dont then say sorry or offer to take you to the hospital.

if they smash something they just leave it lying around.

hmm it seems like Ted Hughes (Sylvias Husband) is very soliticious if her while she is pregnant but after she has two children and feeling slovenly and unattractive, with her hands full of cooking, cleaning, houswork, and cleaning up baby poo, breastfeeding and vomit, her husband, feeling isolated out in the country and useless cos she does everything to be a 'perfect mother' (and her own mother visits to help out with childcare) goes off and has an affair in London with one of their tenants, who has admired her famous poet husband.

?!
Of course he has been lying about where hes going when he goes off to the BBC to 'work'.
She finds out and then burns the happy sequel manuscript to the Bell Jar in the furnace.

The tenant gets pregnant (shes also married! ) and Sylvia cant face her idyll being shattered into a million pieces. She asks for a legal separation (how is that different from a divorce? ) because now her husband is spending all his time (and their money, which SHE earns) on his new lover/mistress

Now some women can take all this, but she was not one of them.

women...do we expect men to be faithful to us, especially if they arent Christians?

Its going from bad to worse. He now says he never wanted to marry her or have children.
He runs off with the other woman and leaves Sylvia bringing them up on her own, however she can at least afford a nanny for a little while. Its when shes broke and has no friends in a foreign country (UK) that it all starts to fall apart.

Why do men do that. For all the infidelity stories people tell me, its ALWAYS the man who strays first and the wife if she does only does it in answer to her husband having someone on the side.

For couples, its usually the husband beating up the wife if she looks at another man, but a wife never seems to beat her up her husband if he looks at another woman.

so they do it just cos they can?

I sometimes wish people would actually do what the Bible says and stone male adulterers. They cause such misery for everyone, their families, their children, their wives.

Instead they all just blame the other woman for tempting them.

Im like what, you are married, even if you watch the Miss Universe beauty pageant, if you are married you dont go falling in love with somone else. You made a vow.

Nothin like going back to those good ole OT laws and completely negating the point of Christ.

My suggestion = Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Introspection really isn't for most but a change of mind and change of mental environment is a good start though. Constant focus on the negative will ultimately create a person to be after its image and they'll end up reaping its fruit in one shape form or another, seen it play out several times.

? she changes her mind about him?

I dont quite understand, for most of her life, Sylvia had to put on a cheery mask to hide the negative things she felt inside. She was a typical American in that respect. She couldnt be real about the things that were happening around her in the 1950s it seemed. With the threat of Nuclear holocaust and the whole Eisenhower era. This is why she fled to England, but seemed was unable to fit in there as well.

she. she had a holiday in Spain, she complained about the primitive conditions, like when they had no hot running water on tap and no electricity lol. No car and no fridge. Same when she went to live outside of the city in the country. But when she was in the city, everything was too commercial!

also, she despised barren women, but when she had children of her own, she would have much rather been writing than having to look after them. Its like she wanted EVERYTHING perfect.

too perfectionist?

Personally I think when Ted got her dabbling in the occult to write her poems thats when it all went kaput. He also would hypnotise her.
Someone who does that isnt genuine. You dont go round trying to contact the dead when you have everything to live for. Ironically her death then eclipsed his subsequent fame. Though she built him up to be a recognised poet.

Sylvias mental illness was severe enough for her to warrant electroshock 'therapy'. He father died when she was 8 and her mother struggled to raise two children on her own. Grandparents did help them a little but they were struggling to make ends meet...her mother played the martyr. Sylvia won every writing prize that was going and got scholarships to universities. She couldnt afford not to write. It was her bread and butter.
