This happened when she was young and she was going to get into Juillard
In 1950, Simone began studying at New York's famed Juilliard music school and a year later auditioned for a scholarship to attend Philadelphia's prestigious Curtis Institute of Music. She was rejected, which she believed was due to racial prejudice, but the fact is that only 3 students were accepted that year, and she was one of 72 applicants. Later she could not attend Curtis because of an age restriction.

I think that I lost hearing in my right ear becasuse of listening to Bach Mass in B minor far too loud and far too often.
No I'm not kidding. In my fine audio equipped SUV. It was a form of preaching to me lol.

Truly Magnificent.

Though I have listened to Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate at least hhhhmmmm maybe 10,000 times or so times by various vocalists, nevertheless I have zipped thru this superb rendition (and it is superb) maybe 20-30 times again this afternoon.

In a more or less continuous state of pure rapturous bliss while doing so mind you.....:giggle:

I love all kinds of Christian Music. There is something that I cannot explain about the soul-touching of live bands at a Gospel music festival. You can feel the Closeness to God, and the love, fellowship, and joy of all who participate. In my past life, this was never so at any of the modern secular concerts backstage. It was all tension and nervousness by the staff and most musicians. ( FYI, I was not a singer) Just thought I would offer my opinion while browsing the groups.
