Interesting - it's so overused and sounds like a consolation prize... or it feels like a "cool story bro."
Proof - There's actually little that can truly be proven... but this word is used a gazillion times when evidence is presented. Evidence doesn't prove something. Evidence supports an idea or theory.
Rather - Sounds snobish... I try to replace it with the word "instead."
Balance - Often, I don't think people are sure what they mean when this word is used. For example, people say they want a balanced life right? So.. does that mean you divide your life into even little pies of... God, hobbies, duties, and whatever else? Does that mean we HAVE to be somewhere in the middle with everything? I'm sorry, but I want my life as unbalanced as possible... God takes the whole pie. It irritates me how people use this word... >_> In the usage of balance... I often look for the line in that blur of balance and tell that person about the line. This trend needs to die.. I honestly think that it can be dangerous because I even hear Pastors use it. This expression seems to express a blur or harmony of concepts.
Extremes - I can be extremely Godly. I can be extremely happy. I have be extremely honest. I can be extremely tactful. Reallly freakkin reeaaaaaaaallllllyy people???? Extremes are not bad or evil! In the right context, they are just fine. But, extremes are always pointed out in bad contexts and now in our culture it's often looked at as bad.
(cringes!!!)
Honorable mentions - ignorant, narrow-minded (cause nobody is narrow-minded about 2+2 equaling 4 right?), tolerant/intolerant, and diversity
