I used to have really horrible nightmares as a child. It's hard to say the worst, but for an example of one of the vivid ones I remember to this day...

When I was about 6 or 8...I had a dream a thief broke into our house. My mom, I assume, was the first to wake...waking up my dad, and they both came to check it out. Where I came in, was to the scene of my mom, lying in my arms, bleeding out from knife wounds. I was covered in her blood, and she was crying. She was speaking to me, trying to reassure and comfort me, even putting her hand to my face...but she died there...in my arms. All the while my dad was fighting for his own life against the same man who was robbing our house and had just killed my mother. I woke up frantic and in tears...my parents were in the door to my room because I was crying and I think I may have screamed or moaned at some point to alert them...I told them all about it and was very clingy to my mother for the next few days. That's an example, but not necessarily the worst.

I had a spiritual warfare dream that I don't want to get into detail about. I felt sick afterwards. Took awhile to shake it off.

I think I mentioned this on here before too- dream that I am convinced to sit in a rollercoaster cart in this space of darkness and the cart fills up with cement all the way up to my neck, and i am stuck going up and down, doing the same turns on the track in the darkness for eternity.

Before I used to dream about being eaten by an evil monster and it usually happens when I forget to pray. The scariest so far was that my dad got murdered by my college friend. I woke up crying and I immediately called up my dad to check on him. He thought that i was heartbroken and was crying over a guy. I couldnt find the words to stay that i had a bad dream him being murdered by my college friend. I was glad that it was just a silly dream. He didn't understand me so he handed the phone to my mom and i told her about my dream. I couldn't stop crying so me and my mom prayed together to calm me down. Today my co-worker approached me that she dreamed of me. We were taking a bath at the beach when suddenly a big wave hit us and i washed out. They were looking for me nonstop but there was no sign of my body. And then next day, I was featured in the news that they found a dead body and she recognized me by what i wore. I just laughed it off and told her that she must have missed me. I dont want to take it seriously but right now I'm kinda scared going to the beach.

Yeah, it eventually got to the point where I'd pray every night for God not to let me have any bad dreams. He answered, as always...and fortunately, saw fit to help me at least not remember having them, even if I did, for many years. Once I was in high school, I decided I didn't need to pray that anymore, and that I could handle whatever fear came my way. I had been through quite a bit by then, though. ^^0

I've always been in tune to the spiritual realm...less now than before, but still... Hard to be afraid of things like bad dreams once you've had frightening spiritual encounters. I digress, though... Anyway...it happens. Sorry you had a bad dream, but you're awake now.

The scariest dream I ever had was when I was walking through Charlie's Chocolate Factory, but all the chocolate had expiry dates that were passed. And when I finally decided to take a chance and attempt to eat the expired chocolate, suddenly a sign popped up in front of me saying "By the way, you now have diabetes". I screamed out such a loud and deafening shriek that it woke me up from the nightmare.

So I got out of bed, went to the kitchen, and ate some expired chocolate and lived happily (and diabetically) ever after!!!

My brain seems to be pretty fond of recurring nightmares- there's been one for several stages of my life.

When I was really little, I dreamed frequently about me and my entire family getting stuck in a sand monster's lair (which I believe looked just like a normal living room, except everything was made of sand). It was so scary, but I don't remember why.

In elementary school, I had dreams about being on the school playground while a dragon attacked the school and burned most of the town to the ground.

As a teenager, I had dreams about the end of the world, and the entire planet being buried 3 feet deep in white playdough, which made it impossible to travel very fast.

As an adult, the nightmares always involve people I've known. It's basically the same dream each time, with different characters. I think these are the scariest.

The dream of the people I killed in war, as I'm out on a mission and I walk by a bomb, and when it blows up, I find myself alone surrounded by them and my gun jams

Carried away by demons. Yikes! I definitely prayed a cancellation prayer to that. I was not living right when I had that dream.

What's a cancelation prayer? Anything like canceling a check?

It means I pray that God does not let the dream come true and that no harm will come to me. Good thing God answers our prayers.

I actually had a dream last night that was really odd. It's actually odd for me to even remember one , but...anyway....

I had decided to attempt highlighting my own hair before I went to work today. Must have been on my mind when I went to bed because in my dream, I had put the highlighting mixture (the blue stuff) on strands of my hair and I couldn't find a place to wash it off!!! I was running all over town trying to find a sink. There were no sinks or showers anywhere and I was afraid my hair was going to burn and fall out. So bizarre.

Might have been that chocolate cake I ate...I dunno..

If I eat chocolate before bed, I have weird dreams. I don't typically have nightmares, though I've had a few in the past few years so bad that when I woke up, I couldn't move. I've had dreams where I woke up sobbing. I still remember those dreams.

I did have a scary, 5 second half-awake half-asleep dream last weekend. My roommate was gone so I was in the house by myself. That typically doesn't scare me, but I guess my subconscious was still worried.

I woke up Saturday morning and looked at my clock and saw it was only 7:30. So I went right back to sleep, but then I dreamed I was still laying in bed when I hear heavy steps running through the house towards my room, and someone comes into my room and holds a knife over me and I'm struggling to wake up in time to grab my taser. And as he's swinging the knife down, I wake up for real. I couldn't distinguish the time between when I had come out of my previous dream to look at the clock and when I entered the next one of someone being in the house, so I was pretty shaken up. It was like a weird half asleep/half awake state of dreaming.
