I'm not going to lie, the weather isn't one of our selling points. Last winter, I heard a guy who moved here from Alaska complain about wintertime here lol. One time, when I was in Georgia, a Vietnam Vet heard that I'm an Okie. He told me that he'd been sent to Oklahoma after he was in Vietnam. After he encountered our weather though, he said he wanted to be sent back to Vietnam!
I live in the northern part of the state, so it can really get cold and it's always very windy up here. And like your dad said, summer is really hot and also very humid.
A lot of bad weather stories here, but I guess us Okies are just used to it. This state has a lot more pros than cons, imo.

Looks nice! I can't imagine the traffic there, or the population. Biggest city I've been to is Atlanta and it felt like there was nothing but people and more people and more people. And the traffic is madness. It certainly wasn't something I was used to. Here it's cows and more cows and more cows...and oil wells and more oil wells and more oil wells.
I did start to get used to Atlanta and almost moved there

I had taken some medication and ended up going to sleep after my Bird Trail post.

Here is our Winganon Space Capsul. No, it's not really a space capsul. It's actually a cement mixer that tipped over while full of cement. The tow truck couldn't remove it due to the weight of it. So, in good Okie fashion, we turned it into something fun. I've been by it several times...

A lot of the things I find out about Oklahoma from you are comical and homey at the same time. A place that I used to think just tornadoes and a bunch of land, becomes entertain and something to be cherished.

i could’t stop laughing about the guy from Alaska…that is hilarious.

My favorite two years living here was the two first years of the pandemic. it seemed like 90% of the population was working from home. So it seemed like it was just me on the freeways. Of course when the world is having one of the worst times, I’m having the time of my life. I worked the entire pandemic as a security officer and pool monitor, having to sadly enforce all of the Covid policies in Laguna Beach. Also, while everyone was getting fatter and fatter, I got strict with my diet and focused on my health big time after getting covid in summer of 2020. Lost 70 pounds in a year.

But yes, during regular years, during traffic hours from like 7am to 10am and 3pm to 8pm, the traffic is unbareable. Sometimes you would rather die than being stuck in it. Especially going back and forth to downtown Los Angeles to downtown Long Beach. That’s why I take public transportation, such as metro trains. There is no traffic and it gets you back and forth faster. You just got to deal with people using drugs, blasting music and men cat calling women on the train, sometimes you see even straight up real racism on the train by gangs, toward Asian American. I felt like being the hero in the situation, because it was disturbing to watch while it was happening.

What hiking to the Hollywood sign looks like…

In my opinion, one of the best things about Oklahoma is that people think of it as you did and they stay away and go other places lol. This keeps us from being flooded with too many people. Thus, I personally believe Oklahoma is the best place to be if/when the bleep hits the fan.

In Oklahoma, things got back to normal pretty quick during the Pandemic. You could hardly tell a Pandemic was going on. For me, the time of the Pandemic was the beginning of a series of close loses for me that continued into this year. I'm at a point in life that I'm weary of loss. Besides, I just about don't have anyone to lose anymore lol. So, I certainly haven't worried about who has gotten larger or who has gotten smaller.

During the harshest part of my grief, I wanted nothing more than to be with the Lord and with dad. But, that's not where I'm supposed to be. There are still things here to do and many beautiful sights to see. Sights such as this picturesque place. Grand Lake o' the Cherokees. This is just a small portion of the lake.

It sure is beautiful.

I’m dealing with my own grief and even self worth. I feel like I haven’t yet reached where I want to be success wise. So I am transferring all of my music from my artist name Sean Tyler Spence, which isn’t popular (and I don’t want it to be), over to my old artist name, The Called, which fits the vision and mission I’m going for.

Today I’m releasing an 18 track album that I’ve been working on the last few months, and I’m just praying something comes out of it.

My last album has had radio play around the world, even places like Kazakhstan for some reason.

The new album is called Unrepentant Sin, called I think I have some unrepentant sin that I’m working on.

God seems to be continually calling me away from this website.

I value fellowship but I also need to take care of myself.

Been living off of $221 per month for spending money and $291 a month for food. I’m use to having at least $4k a month. I just stopped caring about earning money but the pain in my mind, from doing nothing about it, is warning me that I better get to work and get to work quick.

So today, I worked on the song Unrepentant Sin, which kinda sounds like a dubstep song to me, which fits cause dubstep is some of the most disastrous sounding music.

I wrote a thread in Miscellaneous about a half hour ago, saying that I was going to step away from this website. I’m not sure for how long but I think I need to work on myself or something.

It’s really strange having no one, no friend to talk to or share things with. I thought I could do that hear but I feel like God is judging me and so, I’m just going to do what ever he wants me to do, cause I feel like I don’t have a choice.

May you be blessed with time for your tasks and undertakings, as well as time for revitalization.

Thank you for the welcome! :) (my Finnish pretty much ends at tervetuloa and koira and other random words sadly) Oddly I love how flat Finland seems to be in contrast to Switzerland, the fact that you can see so far, the many lakes :) It really is beautiful here as well though, sometimes it makes me cry thinking how much our Lord must love us to make this beautiful world for us.

A recent sunset from here

That is way more than I know your languages... which ones do you even speak? :D Ich spreche kein Deutsch, is what I know.. well, hund too

I think people, or at least I do, like things that are more unique to some other places. I do love finnish nature too, but it is more excotic to see other places and different type of landscapes etc. Every day scenery in here may be suuper beautiful but I kind of get used to it, so everything new and different seem so ..new to me
Even thought we have different landscapes in Finland too, so for example Lapland for me is fascinating, but Western parts of Finland do not enthrall me that much.

Beautiful sunset you had there :)

It's usually just really hot haha. During the summer, it will hit over 100 degrees. It can get dangerous to be outside. People need an AC now or else they can die of heatstroke. We have had a few people pass away during the summers. It just keeps getting hotter and hotter with each year. And the winers are hotter too. I mean it's 90 and it's already mid November. It just makes me kinda sad to be honest. I really enjoy the cold weather. But to me cold means 50s-30s. It's rare for me to experience below that. I have when it snows though. Sometimes I go to Dallas for Christmas and it's so nice up there!

Since it doesn't get too cold here in South Texas, we have a lot of birds especially right now. That can be pretty cool! It's nice to see them be so active and yes they seem to have food all year. But mom and I do feed them and give them water. That's another thing...we try to make sure all bird baths have water and we have a large bowl of water in the front yard for stray animals to drink from. We enjoy seeing them get water through the Ring camera! During the Summer, we had a lot of stray cats and a couple of dogs stop by for a drink.

I struggle with mental health; mostly anxiety. I dream of living somewhere like Washington state or Alaska where it's usually cold and dark. But I hadn't thought about how that environment might affect me. Maybe it's good I am in Texas! Is it common for people in Switzerland to struggle mentally because of lack of sunlight?

I can say about Finland, that darkness is one of the worst parts of winter, cold not so much. Even tho I also like when I can light storm lanterns and candles outside.
Darkness really affects peoples moods. Here is kaamosmasennus aka polar night depression (or seasonal affective disorder, or winter depression or darkness depression..), even though we do not have real polar night below the Polar circle, we still talk about that. Lack of sunlight messes peoples circadial rythm.

And polar night does not mean complete darkness, at day there can be pastel coloured sky, as the rays of sun come below the horizon and colour it. And snow reflects every little bit of light. At night, well, starting from the afternoon, there can be Aurora borealis lighting the sky too, and then there is the moon.

Sun does rise here (below the circle) in winter, but when it is cloudy you don't see it, or then you are at work when it is out. 4-5 hours of sunlight is not much, if you even manage to see that. But if there is snow it is more bearable :D

I feel like I can accomplish more when there is light, but now that sun sets at little afte 3 pm, I feel like day ends and I cannot do much anything. I am more energetic (and happy) when there is more sun.
Even though nowadays we have a lot of light sources, I wonder how they felt back in the days when they only had single shingle burning in some corner of a house as a light source...

And about the cold, I feel like around 30F (-1C) can feel colder that 17F (-7C) as it usually is more humid, at least in here.. :)
90F (32C) would be extreme heatwave in here, and only in summer. We did also have a little bit warmer autumn, if I remmeber correctly, in Septemper there were few days over 77F (25C). Rare to us.

Now it is a bit windy and snowy in here, and my lights are blinking.. I wonder if I am losing electricity at some point.

@CarriePie they answered about the bird, they were unsure, but their guess was Jay.. that Jays can have maaany sounds.
But I don't know if Jay's glide in the sky as this one did and made circles (according to the sound I heard coming around). So it it still going to bother me

I'm sorry the bird is still a mystery. Hopefully, someday it won't be though!

Love the pic! Very snowy. I hope your electricity holds out and I hope you'll stay safe! 🙏

That's the Osage, where I grew up. Rugged, yet beautiful.
One of my favorite sights is to arrive in Hominy as the sun is setting and see the warriors on the hill. Pictures don't do it justice. It's an incredible sight to see.
I'll grace this thread with some warriors...

My dad is obsessed with that show and sadly believes all of it. I saw him last weekend and he still thinks that earth was formed billions of years ago after the Big Bang but I just listened, cause he is my earthly father. I don’t agree with any of his science beliefs but we do bond about the currently political climate.

i told him that I voted independent and I think his heart stopped lol. I remember him telling me once if I ever voted other than republican that he would disown me. He was dead serious.

Giorgio Tsoukalos hair was the only reason I watched that show. He just seemed like he was stoned out of his mind, talking about pyramids and aliens.

I credit my dad for me being a creationist. Even though he was a different type of creationist than I am, his influence as a believer and a creationist when I was growing up was impactful.

My mom's side of my family were democrats. After my grandfather passed away, my grandmother found out that (at the time) I was a republican (been an independent for over 20 years now). Anyway, she got mad and told me he's rolling in his grave. I was like, "But, he was cremated." :D

Good to hear you and your dad are getting along :)

“Rolling in his grave” lol

My dad, his wife and my aunt all found out that I have completed the Bibl, read some books around 30 times and read the New Testament multiple times.

i was sitting outside by myself at the party, just enjoying the peace, when they told me to come over and sit down. The first thing my dad’s wife asked was what I’ve been up to. (this is the same person that called me a fake Christian a month or so ago). I told her that I’ve just been making music and reading the Bible. So I told them how I plan to release 4-5 albums at the same time under a new name but most importantly, how much I have dived into the Bible. They were shocked!

I’ve always kept it hidden because of my dad’s insistence that there is no God. My dad’s wife says she believes in Jesus but she is more Catholic than anything and doesn’t practice at all. My aunt on the other side actually goes to church and I’ve been to her church multiple times.

By the time the birthday party was over, my dad’s wife asked me to visit her sometime and she’ll cook for me and we’ll watch a movie. (My dad’s always out of town working). To me, I don’t want to be around any woman by myself. Especially ones that tell me that they got their *ss h*le bleached when I was younger, in front of my dad!

I will never forget that.

I guess us Okies are different. We don't do that bleaching stuff. Not anyone I've ever known, that is. People really value their appearance out there! I mean, alllll of their appearance!

Forgive me, it's probably not my place to say anything about the situation...but, someone who isn't really a practicing Christian tells you that you are a fake Christian? That doesn't compute out this way

There's Fuzz Butts that are having a party on the steps and on the top of car right now. I've got some old 50s music playing and things seem pretty comical right now...

It’s definitely a Southern California thing. Outer beauty truly has no real value but a lot of people here think it does. I see it as more problems than anything. It becomes idolatry more than anything.

After taking a break from here a week ago, I am guilty of almost falling into the trap of sexual immorality but it’s like the Holy Spirit won’t allow me to pursue it cause I repented already. I tried going on a hook up site and the longer I was on there, I literally swiped left on every single woman in a 100 mile radius. There was no one else left. I started feeling sad for these people and I started not liking myself for being on there.

I even reached out to my pastor and told him that I’m done following Jesus and I’d rather burn in hell, cause I felt like I belonged there.

i also found out that my artist name, The Called, was originally owned by someone else. So after a year of putting 55 songs up on that artist profile. He posted up a song a week ago and all of my songs were taken down. So now I need a new artist name. I have two in mind that aren’t taken.

Fuzz butts sure have a good time. Better than the hell I create. At least they are jamming out to a good time of music. I didn’t even know fuzz butts got on top of cars. I know cats jump on cars though.

if you can pray for my purity, I would appreciate it. It was really hard for me to tell you all that. My mind is like burning from it.
