Case for Faith is a good read.
It was written by Lee Strobel, author of The Case for Christ.
In Case for Faith, Strobel interviews a former upcoming pastor who rejected Christ.
The interview is one of the more thought provoking moments in the book.

Pardon my tangent.
The book above-mentioned will help you ask and answer your questions, further.

People suffer because either they themeselves have sinned... OR other people around them are sinning.

1. If we lie, steal, murder... bad things ... suffering may happen to you because of your doing. You reap what you sow.

2. If someone near you is lying, stealing and muders... bad things ... and suffering near you are ready to happen.

Sin is the cause of suffering. This is the world we created when we ourselves sin. God is good though and powerful so in the end. It'll be okay :)

It's also worth noting that... we deserve hell... so whatever suffering we are experiencing is nothing. I think we can be such babies about our pain and suffering. Any life on earth is paradise in comperison to eternity in hell.

I know it doesn't feel good but let's not get sit on our thrones and think we're entitled to be better. This is the ugly state of mankind and we have to just hold unto God and we'll be okay under his love, kindess and power... he'll protect us from worse.

(I'm trying to be tact)
[h=3]John 9[/h]New International Version (NIV)

[h=3]Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind[/h]9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. [SUP]2 [/SUP]His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
[SUP]3 [/SUP]“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. [SUP]4 [/SUP]As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. [SUP]5 [/SUP]While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 9

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.
I mentioned it on post #39

"I think this is good to know though. That just because someone is suffering and in a horrible situation... doesn't mean they can't be sinful. When we see hurt and pain... we automatically think... that shouldn't happen and yes for the most part it shouldn't happen because sin shouldn't happen and usually that's the cause of pain and death (there are cases where it should like when Jesus said a blind man can be blind to bring glory to God). But, there's more to it than meets the eye."

I probably won't post everything on a subject. Like in other posts, suffering and trails go hand and hand. But, thanks for looking out though.

I will be praying for your friend and I guess all I can say is that if she were my friend I would tell her one day there's going to be a person that is struggling with their pain (whatever that may be) and you may be the only person that is able to help because you know how they feel. I think God does everything for a reason and sometimes we go through things now so we will be able to help others in the future. Idk but it helps me to think of it that way

Suffering is the evidence sin is present ... Jesus being the perfect example ...
