Paul Baloche is the worship leader at a church just down the road from me that I used to go to. Super neat guy. Super great song. Good call, my friend. ^__^
SOOOOOO jealous!

I would also jump at the chance to attend a service at Gateway when Kari Jobe is leading worship.

I keep praying that God will bring Kari Jobe to El Paso so that she can take over worship at our church, and we can meet and fall in love. I don't think He's going with me on that one, though. :/

It is THE Miles Davis album. While not necessarily his most innovative or groundbreaking work, it's probably the single most accessible jazz album on the planet. (No, Kenny G's Breathless is NOT a jazz album.) ANYONE can listen to KoB and 'get it,' even knowing absolutely nothing about jazz. There are literally millions of people who own this album, and don't own any other jazz music. And the crazy thing is that it's not a sellout album. The product isn't compromised or watered down to make it less intellectually challenging for the masses or for jazz novices. It is both the simplest, gentle-est, friendliest, easiest jazz and one of the most profound, challenging, scholarly jazz works...at the same time!!!

Yes, I am nerding on hardcore right now about jazz, but anyone here who's heard it (Hellooo, apparently, and CatHerder, I know for sure) will understand at least partly...because even someone who doesn't like jazz will read this and go, "Oh yeah, he's right. I don't know about that other stuff about it being deep, but he's right about it being easy to listen to." And then the people like me who've actually done serious scholarly work in the genre know that I'm not just blowing smoke, either.

Want proof?

After you've had a lousy day at work/school/whatever, and you get home, and you're grouchy...pour yourself a glass of your favoritest, most comforting drink (coffee, tea, wine, chocolate stout, whatever), turn the lights down low, and sit in a comfortable chair...and just listen to the last track...Flamenco Sketches...in the dark, just let the day melt into the music...

Music will often lift my spirits, especially if I am feeling a little flat. I really like listening to Keith Green. I am a street photographer and love getting out on the street and do some people watching and take some pics, its during this time I find myself come alive. Really love watching movies with a strong story as well. Its these things as well as hearing peoples stories that give me "warm fuzzies inside"

A fresh coat/color of paint on something that's been neglected or forgotten
Finding buried "treasure" (every time I dig in my yard, making a flower bed or setting stones for a path, I find either more cool rocks or old coins or bottles)
Coming across that lone, determined flower or tree in a strange place
Church bells
The first snow
Rainy, cloudy, chilly fall days that require coats and boots and scarves and a hot drink (or a comfy couch and soft blanket and an Audrey Hepburn film)
Listening to acoustic guitar
Reading Psalms
Baking something that people request more of every time they talk to me
Praying while driving or taking a walk
The. Best. Cup. Of. Coffee. EVER.

Oh, and ice cream. That's important.

Eating food... to me there's nothing more peaceful and enjoyable than eating something delicious.

And there's also enjoying the company of friends and family.

I was reflecting on what makes me feel content, peace, calm, and overall happy. What are somethings (physical or otherwise) that lift your spirits, and give you the warm fuzzies inside?
- Sipping a coffee from a local coffeehouse at home while reading a book or something like that. It gives me time to unwind and stuff.

- Traveling. When I'm not going through a weird phase of car sickness, I love going on car rides and going to new places. Why go on an airplane when you could see so much more while riding/driving (Though I can't drive yet)?

- I'm with Rachel. I've never had a boyfriend or dated. But I'm pretty sure that holding hands with whoever will be my boyfriend in the more than likely distant future will give me fuzzy-wuzzy feelings. haha

- Listening to music, and able to harmonize and blend perfectly with the track. Or learning how to play a new song. I used to play along with the radio on my TV all day.

Wow...that sounds like our hallway. haha!

We're putting a fresh new coat on the doors and frames, since we need to make it look presentable for our house to sell. And oh my goodness...I always thought the door and the frame was white....but when we put new paint on it...it looked yellow in comparison. But we hadn't painted the doors and frames for a LOONNNG time. Mom thinks we hadn't painted them since we've lived here (which my sisters and I lived here our entire lives. We never moved once).

- knowing that my house is clean
- finishing a good book
- bubblebaths
- candles
- snuggling/playing ball with my dog
- being able to help someone in some way without them ever finding out who did it
- getting up in the middle of the night to play my heart out on the piano in my jammies...usually slow jazz
- car dancing
- the freedom of the road; love road trips
- sitting at water's edge, taking in the sounds/smells
- lying on a blanket outside, looking at the stars
- listening to small children laughing/playing
- looking at old family photos
- biking/skating and feeling the wind in my hair
- riding a curve low and fast in my Z while listening to classic rock
- watching old cartoons
- 70s music, best ever...don't even argue about it :)
- deep Bible studies, not the nitpicky/argumentative kind, the kind where people are actually sharing their hearts and discussing life application
- worshipping with fellow believers, especially this song:

(I love the songs Paul Baloche writes, but, as a woman, I have a little difficulty with them. Too low in many places.)

-Having my daughter fall asleep in my arms.
-Being with my best friend, Bree. We grew up together and share many inside jokes and interests.
-Playing games with a group of friends late into the night.
-A hot cup of tea in the morning.
-RPG's (^_^)
-Running in the cool of the morning. (This is a new love of mine but it's a wonderful way to spend time talking to God)
-The feeling of sand between my toes where the ocean meets land.
-The feeling of accomplishment I get when I pick fruit or vegetables from my garden that I grew!
-Talking about how amazingly faithful our God is in EVERYTHING! Swapping testimonies of His goodness is the best!

That's a good one. :) Thinking about the day my son (with a passion for apologetics) called me on the phone from his truck and said..."Hey, Mom....I get it now", and turned this up:

I saw him in concert December 9th last year (3 days after my birthday. So it was kinda like a birthday present for me. :D )!! He does an amazing job.

His son (who's my age) did the keys...and the ladies who took me to the concert were like, "I saw you makin' eyes at him! Y'know, I'm good at fixing people up. ;) " all teasingly of course. THOUGH I gotta admit, he wasn't ugly. :p hahaha

Back on subject...if Jason Gray comes to your area, GO SEE HIM!! He's amazing, and just genuine.

I don't know how you do it, in terms of letting your son go. My brother is not even my child, but I just want to protect him from everything that's bad and corrupt in the world. You can hear how innocent he still is when you hear his prayers.

I like what Jason Gray has to say on the heart and the mind :)

I'm really glad that I listened to this video in particular. The song can sound mushy or like some spiritual high seeking thing if you don't hear him speaking about the heart/mind issue.

Hello, it's not easy to "let go", although I'm not convinced we ever really do...or should. :) God has a way of preparing us over time. Children begin to crawl/walk, stay with a sitter for the first time, start school, get a driver's license, suffer their first heart break, and finally move out. It ain't easy. Not in the least.

But Love always protects. :) That's the part I have to keep in the forefront of my mind. I love that boy more than I ever thought I could love anything. The mind-boggling part of that is understanding that God loves him even more than I am capable of doing. God has always kept and protected me. He will do no less for my son. Knowing that helps. It helps tons.
