I'm from the South. Down here we don't talk like the rest of the Americans........ ;)
We have a whole different kinda language down here.
That is the truth! I live in the south too and boy oh boy do we talk different from them northerners. XD For example, many northerners say you guys while we southerners say y'all. If you say y'all you are probably going to be automatically labeled a southerner.

On the topic of ageism, I just don't pay any mind if someone refers to my age. It isn't anything to get worked up over and what do I care if they think I am an ignorant child. What does that say about them?

Be with Christ, He luvs u, seriously, don't let that luv waste!:) And i know i'm 14, but seriously, we need 2 stop this, THE BIBLE IS THE TRUTH! ok!??!!! Let's get that straight!

Maybe i do not as much facts as he does,
but that doesn't mean he has to treat me like i don't know or understand a thing
JUST BECAUSE I'M 18!
Now THERE's arrogance for you.

And no worries, i tried to share the truth of Christ Jesus,
but since i'm only a babe, he wouldn't listen.
Well, he has a phd in the subject, and your 18, he may have had a point(he'd have a point in me too, so don't feel as if I'm attacking you).

Ageism is a discrimination because there is no way to measure experience and maturity, and likely never will be.
NOTE: "Please - don't anyone take offense -- I am posting this only to raise awareness..."

To anyone who is old enough - this should be humorous! ;)

"It goes to show how thinking has changed over the years..."

On the planet where (and when) I come from, it is generally considered true that:

"A person's age IS a measure of the experience and maturity of the person - and the most common one at that..." :D

"Think about it..."

:)

(Yes, I know there are exceptions --- that is why I used the word "generally" -- and emphasized it, too.)

It is my experience that many like this "scientist" are actually junior college chemistry majors who, on any given day are as likely to blow up the lab as they are to expound any particularly history-changing discovery. I have found (speaking of stereotypes) that those in the scientific world are, usually but not always, self centered and self driven. They, you should know, are the source of all that is wise and profound. Don't give this guy a second thought. Use the gifts and talents that God gave you, never apologize for your faith, and always remain loyal to Christ. The world won't understand it. They didn't understand Jesus either. And, if they hated him, they won't be predisposed to kindliness towards you or I either. That's just the way it is.......God Bless

Well, he SAID he had a Phd. :) The way I see it, if he truly knew his stuff, he should have been able to come up with a decent argument defending his position, not started ad hominem attacks.

There are some teens in these forums who express themselves and conduct themselves respectfully and maturely, and are treated accordingly. Then there are those who demand respect (rather than earn it), yet when confronted regarding bad behavior, they go with the "but I'm just a kid" defense. You can't have it both ways.

Indeed...

I commend those who you are referring to in your first sentence. :)

In doing so, they bring honor to God, their parents, and themselves.

It is "refreshing" to find such a teen - especially since they seem to be rather rare these days...

I have used aeuropeism to debate atheism with atheists. A lot of them left about a minute of me giving all of my proofs Europe doesn't exist. I don't blame them if someone uses ridiculous arguments, getting annoyed is natural.

There are scientist who do not believe everything is exactly the way other scientists claim their "proven" theories show.
ain't that the truth. nothing wrong with some healthy intellectual debate. it's just that this intellectual debate is usually the rule and not the exception to the rule while popular favor of one debated theory is the rule and not the exception to the rule. kind of strange..

.. it seems that i cab slightly relate to your situation.. but i want to begin with a verse..
1 TIMOTHY 4:12
DON'T LET ANYONE MAKE FUN OF YOU JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE YOUNG.. SET AN EXAMPLE for other followers by what you say and do as well aw by your love faith and purity..

this verse definitely explains your situation and i just want to stress out that i am a 17 years old kid from Philippines and english is not my native language either.. about this "scientist".. i just want to remind you that God said that His words will never be used in vain.. and making people understand the word of God and giving them the heart to submit to God is not our obligation anymore.. it is already the work of the Holy Spirit,, the only thing we have to do is to share God's message and it already depends to that persons on how he will take it,, actually, i read some of your posts here i dont want the way you answered other people's comment in your thread.. just saying.. ^^

there will always be persecutors in Christian life and we should be thankful for them because it only proves that you are a son of God.. it is also a challenge to you given by God in order that you'll grow and He trusts you enough that you can manage to overcome the discrimination but well, it is a hard truth to conquer but the Lord is our armor.. for the mean.. we should pray for that first.. nothing is impossible with it.. God doesn't want His creatures arguing or debating about is creation.. and you said that He is a scientist who believes in these theories.. and you are a christian.. the implication there is that you are more mature than him spiritually.. and you also said that you tried to share God's message? the final step for that now is to pray for it.. well.. i do believe that God has a reason why He put you and that scientist in one lounge..only God knows about that and be delightful.. God used you as a blessing to him and i know there's always a part of us that will bring us back to our creator.. that "scientist" might be in search for the truth and God led him here.. let's pray for him.. praise God for giving e the chance to read your thread and say something about it.. God bless.. :D

This afternoon i had a discussion with some other people in the Lounge. One of those people was a scientist in his 30's.
Now i have read enough books, and understand all kinds of scientific theories.
Some of them are nothing more than that: THEORIES, like for instance the whole idea of the Big Bang.

But this fellow defended that idea, and other similar theories as being accurate. To him the Bible was just an old book...

He said i wouldn't be able to understand what he said, because im 'just' 18.

I mean... REALLY?

If this is the way scientists like him 'defend' their truth, through ageism, i will have nothing to do with it...

(Funny enough my retorts made him leave the room after a while, lol) :D
