Who is your favorite singer or Band and why?

Mine is tobyMac because in his music he preaches the Gospel and the love of God in a way that would get non-christians interested! his music is so upbeat and unique! if you haven't listened to any tobyMac songs the first one you should look up is Feelin So Fly! that's his best song to date!

I read and article a long time ago that Jim Cooper had stated in a interview that he went to a Marilyn Manson concert to get an idea on the song he wrote. Marilyn Manson is a Satanist. Does this sound like a Christian group? I also looked up their concert photo;s and his wife had a picture of David Bowie who is a sodomite, on her tee-shirt. It is preaty clear who these people are getting their influence from. David Bowie said in a quote back in 1976 that rock n roll has always been the devils music.

Skillet also likes to wear black and protray gloom and goth on their albums just like alll the other demonic bands.

dude....no

John Cooper got his inspiration from Petra. He has devoted his whole life to leading teenagers to Christ! He is totally not a satanist. Besides, who are you to judge someone by the way they dress! I have friends who dress in black all the time, and they definatly aren't demonic! Judge the heart, not the appearance

I never said he was a satanist, I said he was inspired by one.

What about Petra. I started listening to Petra when I was around 13 or so. I would just about worship this group. Then when I was probably 18 or so, I seen them in concert for the first time. I remember standing in line waiting for them to sing; my heart was pounding out of my chest. I don't even think that 1 percent of the excitement was to hear about the Lord. I wanted to see the band that I had idalized for years. I could probably list about every petra song that they sang with their lead singer John Schlitt.

But can you guess who Petra gets their influence form.

The demonic band KISS sang the song, "God Gave Rock n Roll to You" Then in the 80's Petra copycated it and also sang that song. KISS sang the song Heaven's on Fire then Petra wrote that song Seen and Not Heard, to almost the exact same tune. Why are all of these "Christian" rock singers copycating the world, and why can't they come up with their own stuff? No wander these secular rock bands don't want anything to do with Jesus; The "Christian" rockers are coming to them for their music.

P.S. I seen a 9 minute interview on Michail W. Smith and can you guess who he said his hero's are?
The Beatles who were completely antichrist and wrote a song telling people to imagine their is not God or Heaven, and Elton John who is and open homosexual.

Learn not the way of the heathen.......Jeremiah 10

So, your saying that today's Christian music is totally corrupt and we should go back to old hymns? Even some of the hymns were copied from bar music!

And really, judging people because of the music they listen to...have you heard some of Smitty's songs??? If they aren't God inspired, I don't know what is!

Petra, Skillet, all of those people use their music to win souls to Christ. I see nothing wrong with it. To be quite honest, I doubt God sees anything wrong with it. Ive prayed alot on this topic. About whether or not Christian Rock music is ok...I have not found anything anywhere that says 'Thou shalt not listen to rock music.' I really do think its ok. As long as I don't feel conviction, which i don't and im pretty sure God would convict me if I were in err, I'm going to keep listening to that kind of music.

Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs.......Amos 5:23

I have heard someone else who was trying to defend this type of music say that hyms used to be bar tune's, and you know maybe a few of them are, but I would say very few. Hymns didn't have their foundation in the world like rock. I believe hymns were first created by God because he tells us to speak to yourselves in psalms, hymns, and spirtual songs. Colossians 3:16. This was written about 2,000 years ago so it is abvious that they weren't first invented in bars. Maybe there is a time when people abused hymns, that I don't know , but Fanny Crosby who wrote hundreds of hymns and used to write bar tunes, said that she could no longer write her hymns in bar tunes after she became a Chistian. I can't remember the exact quote, but it was something along that line.

Thanks for acepting my point of view. You must remember that I'm am trying to help you out. I listened to some of the same stuff you do when I was your age, and just felt like it affected me. But ya, your right you will not be able to convince me, and I may not be able to convince you, but I hope to have left you something to think about.

I listen to the Casting Crowns mostly, they're an awesome band, and have great messages and they're a Christian band, not "Christians in a band"

I don't really have any favorites, as the music I listen to depends on what I like then and there

right now I prefer calm stuff, like Michael W Smith, other times I go for Antestor and that type of music
