How can one call them selves a follower of christ if they subject themselves to filth that mocks and scoffs at our god, some of you people really need to sit down and think about their position with christ. Now i know nobody is perfect, but we can avoid sin like that, you just can't justify watching crap like that.

Would you say it's alright to enjoy shows and other forms of entertainment as long as they don't mock and scoff at our God?

The steamy sex scenes from the Matrix doesn't explicitly "mock" or "scoff" at God. So is that ok? :)

I think both shows are funny. I understand those of you who feel that they are not Godly enough for you, or should be banned, but do you really think that banning a tv program is a wise undertaking? There are those who would like to see religious programming banned as well. I don't think you can call for the one without bringing on the other.

I say change the channel, or turn off the TV and go for a healthy walk or bike ride during those times. Or pray and read scripture, if you want to spend your time in a more pious way.

Maybe not on these forums, but you'd be surprised at the ludicrous things Christians do in the name of Our Lord.

That's a shame. Those are the people that turn others away from christianity.

I'm so confused about everything dealing with God at the moment.
okay, I get what you are saying now. The only real thing I would say t do, is pray. Yea, it sounds like the same advice that everyone would give you, but it's the truth.

Ya, I doubt God would listen he hasn't really in the past.

why do you say this?
He wouldn't want to listen to me. I've turned my back on him several times. He probably wants me to just burn in hell.

Well, I'm sure you've heard the story of David? David commited adultry, than lied to cover his sins, than murdered to cover his sins. God still took him back, and used him to do wonders in his name. God forgives all sins, he washes us clean. I have come from a really dirty dirty past, and God has cleansed me, and given me a new start, multiple times. Do you remember the story about how many times shall I forgive my brother? Well Peter thought he was going to impress Jesus and said Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother? 7 times? Jesus said 77 times.

well anyways, this is the story:
Matthew 18:21-35 (New International Version)

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[a]
23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[b] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.
26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.' 27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[c] He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.
29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'
30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. 35"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."

So God will forgive us over and over. This is just one of many verses that show this. Even though you have messed up, God will always be waiting there for you.

Martin Luther constantly berated God and argued with Him, and he stated that he felt it brought his understanding of God more complete and whole than he would have had otherwise. Your walk with Christ is never a straight line. God passionately wants to know and love you, though, so don't be afraid to turn back to Him, over and over if need be. God pursues you like a shepherd pursuing a lost sheep. The shepherd couldn't care less whether the sheep got lost or intentionally wandered away, he's overjoyed when he once again finds the sheep and returns her to the flock.

As someone who grew up on the farm, it makes a lot of sense to me. I was there many times over with a pet on the farm or one of my baby calves. I could care less why they went away for a bit, but when I found them, I was overjoyed and gave them a special treat to be back.

Luke 15:11-32 (New International Version)

The Parable of the Lost Son

11Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. 12The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them.
13"Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.' 20So he got up and went to his father.
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.[a]'
22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.
25"Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'
28"The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!' 31" 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "
