I've been interested in learning about the end times lately, and something came across my mind that was rather scary.

I watched a testimony a while back about a man that was lead by an angel to what turned out to be Hell, but then came back (it's all blurry, I don't remember exactly what happened in the story). Anyway, during the end times (the end end times) how will we be able to tell if someone that appears to us is God or the Devil? We know that Satan can mimick God, so is there something in the Bible that tells how to tell the difference?

God will sharpen your understanding and 'discernment' and of Him. I recommend a study on God's attributes! Start with this.......

Omnipotence:
This term refers to the all powerful nature of God. Looking at Webster again, this is defined as “almighty power; unlimited or infinite power; a word in strictness applicable only to God.” He is the all-powerful Lord who has created all things and sustains them by His Word

Sometimes the devil appears as an angel of light, but then as you grow in the Lord, He will reveal this to you pretty quickly for your protection. It gets easier, and He freely gives WISDOM to all that ask (James 1:5). God reveals his word, through the Bible and personally, through two or three witnesses (2 Corinthians 13:1), and I have had the Lord tell me just to step back, not to judge quickly, but observe until I am sure! God is omnipresent and everywhere. The devil does not have these qualities. It makes the Lord look that much bigger. So many seem to fear the devil more than the Lord, but the word says, Fear God or rather Submit to the Lord resist the devil and the evil flees (James 4:7) ! Do this and watch the Lord fight your battles for ya! It's neat! I have seen battles won, just by submitting to the Lord, and quickly praying, and then the devil backs off!

Good questions, and keep seeking Him!!!

Personally when i hear about 'near death experiences' and people seeing heaven or hell, i just don't buy it. While some stories may line up with others, many times the stories contradict each other or have no biblical support to verify it. So i'd skip it.

I have heard this from a pastor.. if an angel or spirit claims to be from God, the one sure way to tell is to ask it to pray to Jesus with you. If its not from God it will flee because evil spirits are terrified of Jesus and even the mention of his name will cause them to flee.
