Okay, so I know a lot of people at my school are atheists.
I wish I could reach out to them and show them in the way of God, but that's impossible to do in today's society without being pelted with rocks or something. Nowadays, it seems there's more shame in being christian than there is being atheist. Not hating on other religions, because everyone has their opinions....But still, I don't know what to do in this situation. The situation where you're in the same environment as atheists, and even some of your friends are atheists.
Please help? ;-; I'm so confused.

I attend a university in the Bible Belt. I'd say at least 60% of the students aren't Christian and the remaining 40% are split between secular Christians (those who believe in gay marriage, etc.) and Bible-believing Christians. That's more and more the norm these days. I have plenty of friends who are atheists and who treat me politely on a daily basis. But, God willing, I'm not going to back down if my beliefs are ever ridiculed or questioned. And there are different ways of doing that, too. I like to try to do it in a polite manner and keep emotions out of it. By getting angry you won't prove anything except that you're "brain-washed" even if that's not the case. Just how they view religion.

Trust in God. Be nice. Seek opportunities to share the Gospel with them. Research your faith. Don't give in. God is greater than any human being. Don't try to offend, but don't be worried about offending either.

By the way, high school/junior high is a time when becoming an atheist is the popular, cool and intellectual thing to do. A lot of terms and buzz words get thrown around that often don't mean anything on any deep level of conviction to the people using them - terms like "freedom of thought", "intellectual", "ignorance", "blind faith", "enlightened", "science", "logic", etc. I'm sure you'll hear a lot about that. At the end of the day pray to God, renew yourself in his teachings and research your faith to give a superior defense.

I go to a public high school, and have experienced a lot of the same things. My friends are atheist as well, but i try not to be influenced by them. As far as reaching out goes, I try to join Bible Clubs, Pray at lunch, and act Christian like. I don't swear and invite friends to fun youth events, but I dont like stand on tables in the lunch room and preach the word, its the small acts, and being who you are in God that makes you stand out, and draws people in who are looking for something more that can only be found in God. So keep up the good work, and when God opens up doors of opportunity JUST DO IT :)

It is getting harder and harder to be a Christian in a post-Christian society :(

Do what is necessary to keep your faith strong, little sister. Reading God's Word, praying, fellow-shipping with other Christians, being careful what you read and see, etc.

Others will see your strength and goodness and wonder at it and may be drawn to ask you what's 'your secret' ;) .

At least our country still has freedom of religion...in other places Christians are being murdered for their faith.

Praying for you.... wisdom, guidance, and strength. May the Spirit be strong in you. High school years are not easy but you will make it through :)
