I disagree and wow I do feel like I'm going nuts. woohoo!!! :D
On a more serious note, anyone who thinks all religions are the same should read the Qu'ran, The teachings of Siddhartha (buddhism), and about Hinduism (there is no specific body of text taught in Hinduism). Those make up the three major world religions. You'll find that they share few similarities and are more different than they are alike.
Wow I must have really knew what I was talking about.

The Koran was copied from the Holy Bible...thus, it should repeat the same things.

The Koran was also most likely written by early Arab Christians, as it promotes Jesus' crucifixion until death upon the cross, His singular Resurrection, His deity, etc etc...

Most of this has been lost to islamic ignorance, however...

You should take note that this thread is from FEB 2012, and that Kewl42 hasn't logged into CC since May.

Of course the Bible and the koran are similar,......one was written over 600 years after the other was finished.
Any hack can plagiarize.
See how similar the book of mormon is to the bible also. - (Written 1740 years after the last book of the bible was written).
Anyone can steal.
Anyone can take the same ideas and ideologies; change it up a bit......and call it their own.
It's up to you to do the research.

I believe that God, allah, and every other monotheistic religion's god are one and the same. given, for example, how similar the koran and the bible are in terms of message: be kind to your fellow man, live a life of good and generosity. Is there anyone that agrees? or disagrees? and why. bear in mind, that if you disagree, please be pleasant about it. there is no need for hating on people because of their different beliefs. that's what got the twin towers bombed, the crusades started, and countless other dead.
kewl42, let's use good old fashioned horse sense. If you were the Antichrist, (just pretend) & you needed a world religion to bring the people together as one to accept you as their messiah, how would you do it? In order for you to be accepted, all major religions would have to want religious peace & the ability to relate with one another. How else could they do this without a universal religion? I believe Universalism is either THE or one of the methods to accomplish this.

OP - awesome thread. Here's why I agree:

Islam DOES share many of the same tenets of Christianity, but here's the kicker - the center of Islam is the middle east. The center of Christianity is the Western world, especially the US. Therefore, the same type of people that are Christians in the West are Muslims in the middle east. Therefore, if a Christian grew up in the middle east, he/she would probably be... wait for it... a Muslim. They would be just as devout, and no one would sway them toward Christianity. Yet they would still love their neighbor and praise their god.

So proponents of Christianity believe that because they were lucky enough to be born in the US, they're going to heaven, and those poor people unlucky enough to be born in the middle east are going to hell.

This makes approximately zero sense, ergo Christianity cannot be the only way. Saying it is is, beneath the surface, an incredibly selfish and elitist point of view.

Trinitarian Christianity IS the only way.

I think what you are suggesting, that there are other names for God, or similar Gods can be our God, is absolutely abhorrent in the spiritual realm. It is changing God into something manmade, something that God isn't. It is call blaspheming, and is the sin that is listed as unforgiveable.

All the common sense, or man reasoning, or study simply can't prevail against this fact.

I hope I am not right!!!

History goes back about 6,000 years. You are making decisions about it based the history of a very small part of that time. Better look deeper.

She's only 13 and that's not what she meant. She was talking about how the bibles in her country use the name Allah where GOD should be (possibly in hopes that their muslim-friendly govt. won't take them away) and how the government took away all the bibles that are written in her language.
