I dont know if I agree with the above statement. Jesus didnt remove himself from our lives. He never gave up, and never will give up, on us. So we shouldnt give up on anyone either
We are told to use Wisdom. Wisdom is knowing when to walk away. Knowing when the situation is not good for us and knowing we shouldn't be in it.
And, actually, the bible does have precedents of people separating from each other, or being cast out. So it's not at all unbiblical. In fact the bible says 'bad company corrupts good character'. So clearly we should not be engaging too much with 'bad company', if it all.
Paul also taught to, under certain circumstances, to remove people out of the church and send them back among the wolves.
But, again, this is not what you are discussing. You are hung up on a girl that doesn't want to date you any longer. You are in no way at all being like Jesus by ignoring her requests and pursuing her. That is selfishness, not Godliness. And selfishness is Not loving.
Christs love was sacrificial. He died on the cross for us. But he doesn't try to pressure us into following him. He loved us, proved his love selflessly and lets people decide for themselves. And when someone says they don't want Christ in their lives, he listens. So, the truth is, you have this whole situation backwards and are trying to spiritualize non-spiritual issue so that you can try to get your own way. I'm not going to buy that, no matter what excuse you use.
