Hi! So just about an hour ago I caught my little brother locked in his closet with a bottle of lotion, his pants off, and a phone. I would guess that you know what I am talking about??? If you don't, its the M word. Anyways, I know for a fact that what he was doing was wrong and it is not Christ like. As I caught him, I was speechless and I felt so hurt, not because of him, but because of the direction he was going with his relationship with God. I don't know what to do. He agreed to let me block all adult content on his phone, delete youtube, get rid of his password for his phone, but what should I do to get him back on track? Do I tell my parents? or do I just pray for him by myself?

But along with what I caught him doing, I looked through his text messages and he moderately dropping F bombs, and some other curse words that shouldn't be said, because it is not holy and Christ like. He is trying to do better and I gave him 1 Corinthians 10:13 to keep him from doing anything, but we all know that he needs to have a stronger relationship with God.

So heres the questions again: what do I do? do I tell my parents? how do I pray about it? how do have God change him? how can I get him to reinitiate his relationship with God? Please answer! I'm desperate right now, thank you! GBU!

That is a hard one to give an answer to.
But the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
He has forgotten about salvation over condemnation.
He has forgotten that God sees all things, knows all things.

Rather than coming down hard on him like a bag of cement perhaps
you need to work with him through brotherly love - being older and
wiser.
Are your parents Christian and church goers? If you told them about
this what would they do? Would they simply punish him in the usual way?

But what can you as an older brother to teach your younger brother
about the perils of pornography and sexting and other unseemly acts.
You maybe can impress on him that your good appropriate behaviour
and avoiding such naughtiness is not only because you want to grow to be
a decent and respected young man - BUT also because you have your eyes
fixed on your future with God - your salvation.

Sorry can't offer a lot more. Sexual sinning is all the norm in modern
society and younger and younger teens and children are becoming ruined
by the enticements of social media and readily available pornography.

Help him to love Jesus and to want to be right with Jesus.

Well, i'm sorry to hear this. it must be heartbreaking to see how your brother acting this way. (that's the thing about smartphones nowadays...they have impacted this generation is such a bad way. you just can't avoid the temptation out there) i think you should tell your parents. they need to know what's going on with their son so they can deal with it. like Waggles said, what do you think they would do? you should pray about this also.... pray for your brother that he may be convicted and know what he's doing s wrong. you did the right thing by blocking the adult content he was receiving. my final suggestion is... GET RID OF THE PHONE! :) i shall pray for you and your brother... GBU :)

Maybe if you pluck out his eyes and chop off his hands that would do it!

Look, porn is a vicious monster, and it's good your'e concerned about him getting caught up with it. It IS very destructive on so many levels.

But he can just as easily have lustful thoughts and activities just by watching girls on most any TV show. I think sin avoidance has it's place, but since sin starts in the heart, we must learn to take each thought captive and give them to Christ.

On a practical level, I would say DO NOT tell your parents. You will lose all trust with him. Approach him in a loving, understanding manner. I guarantee saddling him with guilt, fear and condemnation will make the situation worse.

You have done well to address him, telling parents will cause him to feel betrayed, and make things worse, causing enmity between the 2 of you. Releasing Him to God in prayer, forgiving Him on behalf of Christ are what you can do.
