Since I posted that sermon, I listened to another on the subject by another pastor I heard before. It's not as polished, but the second half was pretty well researched on the topic of jewelry especially.
Tattoos and piercings
Healthcare workers see EVERYTHING, even parts no one else sees.....
It doesn't matter if that tattoo is only for you or for someone else. An old tattoo on an old person looks awful, lol!
How come you want something permanent? You're young - even at 18 or 19 you'll still be young. Do you really want to be stuck with a permanent tattoo for the rest of your life?
I think temporary tattoos are a better option (with the reasons I've posted before). Or you can at least try out different temporary ones until you find something you absolutely love. Shop around for a tattoo shop that can do the same design first as a temporary and then permanent when you finally pick one.
I'm not saying this because I think tattoos are acceptable - the Bible actually says not to do them, but you don't want to hear that. So I just want you to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into by at least trying out temporary tattoos.
You can even do them now and apply them yourself just to see if this is something you really want to be stuck with for the rest of your life. I don't have any tattoos, but if I ever want to try out a temporary one, I think these are really pretty:

I completely understand how you feel, and no, I'm not one of those people lol. I like to try my best to base everything on scripture, which is in ultimate authority, and nothing here on earth, or anything that someone else may have written or said has more authority than God's Word, which is completely true, infallible, and inerrant. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 19:7-9, Proverbs 3:5) Now, let's first look at 1 Corinthians 10:31 and Colossians 3:17. Based on what these scriptures say, we shall do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for His glory. So, if you get a tattoo just for your own glory, self-gain, not giving glory to God, praising God, thanking Him in everything in Christ Jesus, or not doing it to bring attention to Christ, then you shouldn't get a tattoo because you are not doing it for the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are getting a tattoo to bring attention to yourself rather than Christ, that surely goes against scripture. But if you get a tattoo for the opposite of all these things, for God's glory alone and not your glory, then go ahead, but also consider first these scripture as well: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 1 Corinthians 3:16-17; Romans 14:7-8. Like what you mentioned Leviticus 19:28, "You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord." but we know that there were many ceremonial laws in the old testament, so they don't apply today unless if it's part of God's moral law, in which it isn't (another example being don't wear mixed fabrics) it was to make Israel separate from everyone else. But in the new testament, there are somethings that it says that we shouldn't do, like the scripture I stated above. I want to see what you think after reading all the scripture that I put in here.
