Many of the young people in our society are embracing a dangerous "little fox" or seemingly "little thing" that may seem harmless. The young people are saying that it is a "trendy" thing to do. Many of them are showing off multiple ear, nose, tongue, eyebrow and navel jewels and rings attached to their pierced flesh. Some even have this done on unspeakable parts of their bodies. These are abnormal and unnatural.

As many people are not aware of the spiritual dangers in such practices, I do not mean to condemn any that may already have this done. However, I would urge you to seek the Lord as to any further involvement in this practice. The Lord loves everyone, no matter what we are currently doing however, His desire is to show us a better way.

The Bible warns us against cuttings in our flesh in Leviticus 19:28 which says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

Our young people do not realize what they are doing has its roots in witchcraft and the practices of false religions. Those that have made trips to other parts of the world have viewed the bodies of those who have not only pierced and tattooed their bodies but have gone further, with mutilating their bodies. It is repulsive to see someone deform the body that the Lord made in perfection. The Lord admonishes us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20,

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

If we are to glorify God in our bodies, how do body piercings glorify Christ?

Regards
Clement

Again, I will state repeatedly. Do you follow EVERY Old Testament law? How do piercings not glorify Christ? I have personally begged God for conviction over my piercings, and not once has he convicted me. I find no reason to think that piercings are a sin.

Personally, I think it has to do with morals and spiritual growth. I myself, when I read the part in the Bible that states not to mark my body or make piercings in it, already had designs for 5 tattoos and 7 piercings. I was beside myself, but I decided not to get it done because I really wanted to grow closer to the Lord and I wanted to be serious in my walk with Him.
God told his people, then Israelites now us, not to do these things because these things the other nations before them, which He drove out, did which were (and still is) an abomination unto Him.
So even though you may think the Old Testament is "irrelevant," God is the same now as he was then, his word doesn't change (only people change it to suit themselves/justify their actions and choices).

I never said the Old Testament was irrelevant. Do you eat pork? If you had kids, would you stone them if they strayed from the faith? I feel that if you don't get personal conviction from God, and you do truly look for it, because God says if you look for the truth you will find it, then it is not something to worry about.

Well you can't just pick and chose what scriptures to live by, and with your comments it seems that way, you need the Bible as a whole. While some things are no longer "custom," (like sin offerings, stoning your children, etc.) there are things that are pretty easy to live by. Oh just so you know, those things are no longer done because Jesus Christ redeemed us with His blood, so no use for them now.
Do I eat pork? No I don't, personally I think it tastes nasty.
Like I said to has to do with your morals and spiritual growth. I myself now wouldn't get tattoos or piercings as opposed to several years ago when my relationship with God was weak. I wouldn't look down on someone who does. Although if they were Christian I'd wonder why they'd want them.

There is like 3 different threads going on about piercings and tattoos. I don't exactly have the time to re-post everything. You can go read my responses in the other one, but basically I said that since not all these are "Custom" I feel that the conviction of God is necesary to know how I should live. I have begged God for conviction on this subject, and non came. Did God not say if you seek the truth you will find it? Well seeing as I have not felt conivction, I feel no reason to believe that God is against it. And, my relationship with God has never been stronger.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with samefacedness nad sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. 1 Timothy 2:9

Do you realy think that a lip ring is samefacedness?

I don't think a lip ring stops you from being saved.

I don't have any tattoos or piercings. Why? Well, aside from the fact that they look painful to get, I personally just think that they haven't ever done anything to enhance someone's features. They make a statement that I wouldn't ever want to make - I would prefer to be beyond reproach in that area. They don't seem to provide anything beneficial, and may in fact have a negative effect on the appearance, which isn't helpful. I may someday pierce my ears, but aside from that probably not anything else.

But, I don't necessarily think that getting piercings or tattoos is wrong. Actually, I haven't thought much about it... but I don't see anything sinful about it yet, unless it is done out of rebellion or anything else like that.

I've also hated the permanent nature of especially tattoos. What if I decided on a tattoo, then changed my mind 5 years later and wanted something else instead? I mean - I'm bound to change my mind sometime. The fact that they're so permanent is a little unnerving to me. (haha)

I only have my ears pierced. I've thought about getting more piercings but I hardly wear earrings anyway so it's probably not worth it, haha.
I don't think I could commit to one design for a tattoo...they're so permanent lol. That and the fact my parents would kill me.
