Getting a tattoo is wrong. We as Christians should aspire to be like Jesus Christ and with that we try not to sin and do good as much as we can. So why should we change the one thing that we have that is most like Christ. God made us in his image so why would you see if fit to change what he has made for us - unless you think you can make a better job than him? If God wanted you to have a dolphin, or butterfly or any form of print on you, he would have made you like that from the moment you were born. Basically if God wanted you to have patterns and prints on ur body - thats probably how he would have made you. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you know your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, whom is in you, who you have recived from God. You are not your own; bought at a price. Therefore hounour God with your body.
Furthermore, wouldnt the money be better spend on children starving or a good cause of any kind. Please think about what I've said.

First of all, we have already covered things, tattoo's are not ''wrong''. Secondly, maybe some do give money to feed the hungry and so on. Either way, I'd rather give them the food, most don't buy food, they waste it on things. Third of all, who says that we can't represent God with tattoo's? I have been given many chances, and taken up on them to witness from mine. Those of you against them, REALLY need to study up and see what they were in Bible days. They weren't ''tattoo's'' that's a man made word for them so that people know things, and have a term for it. I forget the technical term for it now, but back then they cut the body open, then poured the ashes of the dead inside, praying to false gods. Tattoo's are not that at all. The body isn't ever cut open, no ashes are put inside, nor do we worship false gods. The Holy Ghost dwells in us just the same as anyone else. It's simply the fact that those who don't have and are against tattoos go looking for something to judge others on and everything. I've seen many, many people go out literally looking for tattoo's on people. If they can't find any, they go on, if they do find some, they start judging and condeming. Let God deal with each and every single person as He sees best. No human is God, therefore, they can't speak on His behalf on things. At any rate, this thread is rather old now. It blew up into a huge argument/debate before, lets not start that up again, let it go, and may peace continue to be still upon us all. In the name of Jesus.

I am not judgeing anyone. If i was to say stealing was wrong, I do not go around looking for theives and saying your wrong stealing - I am not judgeing them. What I am saying is that tattoos' are wrong, just like stealing and the are not approved of by God.

Well I guess then that you dont dye your hair, cut your hair or wear makeup and deff you dont have your ears pieced. cuz by doing that you are altering your image. and I guess you dont wear clothing then eaither, cuz i mean if God wanted us to wear clothing He would have made us with it already on ourselves.
and im sure you dont waste money by buying coffee or music or books or the computer you are on or the internet service or tv or anything.

I do have the luxuary of having the internet. But all of the above things you've just listed (dyeing of hair, cutting hair, wearing make up, ear peircing, tv, music, books, coffee and tv) you are writ - i do not poccess or do these things.
As for the wearing of clothes..God made Adam and Eve clothesto cover there nakedness when they left the Garden of Eden. Noah had to have his nakedness covered aswell. Wearing clothes is not wrong. Even unbelivers know its right to wear clothes.

I think you should evaluate the reason(s) for getting one (to draw attention to yourself) before you do it.

I got one cuz I used to cut and when I wanted to stop I drew a cross on my wrist so when I did want to cut it would remind me that Jesus died for my sins and His was the only blood that needed to be shed. so I got a cross tattooed on my wrist as a permanent reminder. also it is good to show my faith and lead into a conversation about God.

The reason here is a good one; thus I think in this case one may be acceptable.

but upon seeing me you would not know my story and therefore judge me based on just the site of my tattoo, not the story behind it.
i personally think that is wrong.
and i personally dont think there are 'acceptable cases' you should see tattoos as either being wrong or right.
just like abortion. sure it might be an 'acceptable case' if a 13 year old girl was raped. but it is still murder and God had plans for that life.
and sorry if im seeming mean.

I'm just sick of Christians bashing on me about how I look and dress and the fact that I have a tattoo. they judge me based on the outside when it is the inside that counts. plus, by looking different I can witness to a different type of people that would probably not talk to the 'regular' looking Christians.
I mean people have judged me and then the few that get to know me tell me that I am a really nice person and they thought I would be a freak. but im glad to know not everyone stereotypes.
maybe everyone needs to take a step back and look at life and people through God's eyes.
God loves everyone for who they are. He looks at the inside.

and I do not dress or look the way I do to try and get attention.
I dress and look the way I do because it is what I like, it makes me who I am and I am comfortable with it.
God made me an individual and this is me.
Maybe a tattoo is how I express who I am, who God made me to be.
I'm sorry I'm not perfect and that I 'waste' money on books and tattoos (mine was free btw) but I am just me and I am doing the best that I can.
Can't I just be a child of God? Can't you see me as just that?

Okay, lets see the reasons for my tattoo's...one says ''Never Forsaken'' helps me keep going when life's tough, one is a shamrock, with heart shaped leaves, and it says ''Trinity''above it, as I believe in the Trinity,(that was my first one, and it and all my other ones keep me from cutting as well, I did it before myself). A dolphin in memory of my special aunt, and because I always loved them, the other is a cross made of nails, ith a circle background shaded in, and three small crosses inside. It shows how Jesus was and is tougher than nails, it represents how the man on the left side didn't repent or believe and went to hell, BUT the man on the right believed, and repented and all and Jesus told him to fear not, when the day was over he'd be in heaven with him. It shows how we're forgiven and will go to heaven. It's also dedicated to my sister who always set an example or me in life and as Christian, my grandparents for the sacrifices they made in raising us, and brining us up in God's house, as well as all family, friends, loved ones, and all those that have passed on and are with the Lord now.

Anyhow, what about birthmarks? they're color and marks on the body. Tattoo's are not wrong.

Read Revelation 19:11-16 it says ''And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he hada name written, that no mn knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his nam is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white, and clean. And our of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smile all nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on his vesture and o his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.'' Most say that was/ is a tattoo. Go figure ^_^. At any rate, I don't go out showing off my tattoo's, if someone happens to see them, and ask about them I shall tell them about the reasons and all.

It's not a ''fashion'' thing, it's not to ''fit in'' or be ''popular'' or anything else, it's a personal choice, and each person has a reason or reasons for getting things done.

Once again to clearify, I am not judgeing anyone , this is a Christian forum, i came here to discuss and not to Judge as you keep saying.

Secondly i will once again cleaify what I am saying about tattoos. I said that if God wanted any art or form of print on you, he would make you born with it.

So why ask about Birthmarks? They are completely diffrent - yes they are marks on the skin, yes the may stand out. But God has put them there, it was not your choice.

I myslef do not have a birthmark. My twin brother has a brown one on his leg. He did not ask for it to be put upon him by a man with an ink gun. He was born with it, without a choice, like you have no choice of wethere you are born a boy or a girl.

Tattoo however, as i have already said is a form or print on you, that you have choosen to get, to change your physical apperance.
God Bless
