What do think about it? My friend and i think that its a just a stupid hallmark holiday thats jsut pointless. So we had an anti-valentines day party by eating some cheescake and some chicken alfreado and drinking japanese pop and eating japanese candy. What do you guys think about the holiday??? Do we honestly need a freakin holiday just to say i love you when you can do it anyday of the week?!

Well it can be good or bad. I mean if you have a valentine than yes its a great day! But if you don't it can be kind of sad. I guess I'm kind of mutual. I mean the holiday is going to happen no matter what. But thats great you had yourself a little a party :) thats probably the best way to handle it

Meh, I find it pointless. Doesn't mean I'm going to go picket it or something. In my opinion it's just a sad excuse to recieve more gifts. Now adays everyone wants things for free. Well get off your butt and work for what you want. If someone loves someone else and wants to buy them something they will, they don't need to have the world tell them when to buy that person something. But just my opinion.

I like it </guywhoisn'tsingle>

Also, it's not just a gift holiday tbh. Sometimes couples decide to not give gifts, and just devote the day to one another. In my case, I'm in a distanced relationship, and I used Valentine's Day as an excuse to convince our parents to let me come over ^_^

IMO, it's not some gift/card-giving holiday, though I'm sure the gift/card companies certainly aren't complaining. It's about being happy with the one you love =)

Shouldn't everyday be about being happy with the one you love whether you are with them or not?

True... But Valentine's Day is special time set aside JUST for them, without having to worry so much about the day-to-day crap that gets in the way sometimes ^_^

Similar to how church is. Yes, you should have a relationship with God throughout your week, but every Sunday is a special time set aside just to be with God and his people and worship Him =) Same thing about your partner, but they only get ONE of those days a year instead of 52... At least in the form of an internationally recognized day ~_o

Ya know, I felt the same way...

...but in the end, this ended up being my 1st Valentine's Day with a REAL valentine. We are not actually dating (parent's reservations), but we do as much as we can together. His sisters are my best friends. And now he is tooo.... :)

I think it started out as a Hallmark Holiday, but ya know, if it helps people to remember/acknowledge/appreciate the people they have in their lives that care for them theeenn...it ends up not being such a bad thing!! It becomes bad when people can only bring themselves to be a sweet lover on this day

That's a valid point there, and I sort-of agree with you, but I suppose it's the sort of day where you should let the presence of love be known! I know it probably sounds silly, but I just think it's a great chance to tell your lover, partner, husband, wife, neighbour or best friend that you love them and have a good excuse for it! :)

I'm glad you had a good Valentines Day even though you were anti-it, because you still enjoyed yourself among all the V-Day haters, and that is a good way to show appreciation for the anti-Valentines folks. God bless!
