I have been a Christian for 6 years and for 3 years actively linked to Church activity. When I first came to my church my cousin MARK was my inspiration. I saw him worshiping and God inspired me through him to be a worship leader. After one year my cousin left for UK and when he came back I didnt recognize him. He was not that strong Christian that I met. He had different concepts about God then. It started... (he shared) so he says, " I dont believe in God but Im not an atheist. I doubt the existence of God." Well He kinda influenced me cause I never really replied. I just listened to mark's philosophical words. It happened yesterday when I couldnt read my Bible, every thing seemed to contradict. I was amazed at myself that I couldnt pray. No words were coming out. Then I started praying in Tounges. I was literally chocked by the evil spirits ( later in that day I figured that I was possesed. I had a dream just b4 that morning my friend gave that interpretion ). I still Thank GOD for His help.

In this story doubting almost led me to fall apart. After that I had that concept in my mind that doubting makes one static. It makes u numb in the middle of nowhere, neither positive nor negative. Mark said the exact opposite. He said doubt makes one dynamic not static. Cause once one start to doubt they move towards a goal. I couldnt answer him that moment. The Holy spirit later told me doubting its own has a level. It can persuade someone to be dynamic if thats what the person wants but it mostly makes ppl static cause once one doubts they always have the tendency to doubt again even when they find an answer. A lil' doubt is good otherwise its called believing bilndly but too much of it will take one to disaster!!

People please share your opinion about Doubting and where does it lead!!

I had been baptised 10 years ago, then when I started reading the bible several months ago I realized I had my doubts about the bible's reliability. This lead me to realize my faith was worthless and ultimately I was lead by the Holy Spirit to search and pray for the truth. I believe,(and that it is confirmed in the bible) that the saving faith spoken of is a gift from God, and it is powerful, this faith will overcome all doubts because you don't merely take the bible at it's word but the truth is testified to you by the Holy Spirit. At the moment I believed I had what they called ' a joy unspeakable ' which some people like to dismiss, but it is written that anything that comes from God will be confirmed to you. It was in my case.

If you believe just because some man told you about Jesus than your faith will be shakable. If on the otherhand you believe because God revealed the truth to you then your faith will be able to endure. Not only that, but this faith can send you into the face of certain death with confidence in your soul that you belong to God.

Hello brother,

I was raised as a Christian, but I never really believed any of it. I became an atheist at around 13 or 14.

Long story short, I felt drawn back to the faith a little over a year ago. After about 6 months of prayer and doubt and reading, I finally became a Christian last January. I still have doubts sometimes, and I am by no means the perfect Christian. Not even 50% of a perfect Christian.

I heard a priest give a homily on doubt a few months ago, and he said something to the effect of:

"It is ok to doubt, the problem is what we do with our doubts. Do we sit on them and let them draw us away from God? Or do we seek Him and humbly ask Him for answers?"

He said that doubt can be a powerful tool for strengthening our faith. I think this is true. I've learned tons from my atheist friends challenging my beliefs! :p

Always remember, too, that Christianity has a loooong history. I am willing to wager that your doubts are not unique. I'm sure they have been addressed over the past 2000 years, so why not try looking for answers?

That's the key thing; when we have doubts, we should seek out answers. Doubt can be a powerful tool, but it can also draw us away from the Lord if we do not address them properly.

"Come, let us reason together," says the Lord... - Isaiah 1:18

I really need this thread. I have been dealing with doubt for over a year I think. Right now I believe there are no answers that can take my doubt away, only God can do that. I've started praying, that God would lead me in truth and confirm me in truth.

DinoDillinger, your post was comforting. I believe the Holy Spirit will testify the truth to me and end my doubts once and for all.

Aye bros thanks for all the replies!! Well I think Every christian should have postmodernism in them!! When one is premodern they just believe blindly. Postmodern has doubting in it. Fully being postmodern a person cannot be a Christian cause one cant rationalize everything. Fully P. modern ppl says "seeing is believing" but not always!! So Be careful of it!!! : ) Holy SPIRIT IS ONE AWESOME THING!!! I cant thank God enough for it!! Will pray so that God gives us victory over Doubt with HIS SPIRIT!!
