Why is it that God only chooses to save some people?

I belive god tries to save everyone, but, the people he tries to save dont look hard enough for the way to be saved.

Heres a quik story:
A man was on his roof because it had flooded and he wanted to live he prayed:"GOD PLEASE SEND ME SOMETHING TO RESCUE ME!" 30 minutes later a helicopter comes and says:"Get on!" But the man said:"No, no, I asked god to save me, it should be soon"
20 minutes later...
A man in a small boat came and said,"Get in, I can get us to shore!" But again the man said:"No no, God is gonna save me..." Then the man died and went to heaven and asked god: "Why didn't you save me from the flood?"
God replied: "I tried, remember the helicopter and boat?"
The story doesnt really answer your question completley I know, but god does try to save people, but people hide from god. (like in my signature, the reason an Athiest doesn't look for God is the same reason a Thief doesn't lok for a cop...)

It's not enough that religionists and self-righteous people must ever look into their own selves for finding something that can save them, also "god" (small "g" as quoted) must do it. Happily the God of the Bible is different.

2 Peter 3:9 This verse states that God doesnt want anyone to perish.

GOD wants all to be saved. John 3:16 But the choice is ours not his. Provers 18:21 Life and deathe are in the power of the tongue and those who choose it shall eat its rewards. Jesus said "If you confess me with your mouth publicly" so is our choice not GOD.

I believe God did not die 4 sombody but he died 4 everybody.God wants everybody to be saved its only the devil dat doesn't want evrybody to be saved.

I like to believe everyone has a chance...fact is those who believe and repent is saved...The question is "how do we know we believe" the heart is the most decietful above all things.. God will regenerate his people's heart and the law of God will be in written on the heart. Basically you will love God and hate sin. as far as Gods Election is concerend... if everyone is evil which they are since the fall of mankind is God wrong to say "you, you you and you are guilty and you I am going to forgive"? absolutely not we are all guilty so those who he draws to himself have that chance but you still gotta recieve the gift of God (Jesus Christ)...thats the free will part. Have you ever spoke to someone about the Gospel and it meant NOTHING to them...Maybe that person was not called by God..at that particular moment anyway. Or have you ever spoke the Gospel to someone and they believe it and they want to do it but they wont repent? maybe thats someone God is calling but they say "no".
