If you could build a church and decide what to offer and how it will conduct itself in the community and all what things would it include? what kind of service? What kind of outreach would it have? What would it do and offer to the community? What would be your ideal church? I am asking this for a big reason and need true answers and new and innovative ideas. please give me any ideas you may have no matter how small or silly you may think they are. all opinions are appreciated. who knows, you might end up being part of something big.more details as the thread builds.

ok to start this off then... i think it would be great to have a worship based church. centered on pleasing god in every way. big on community outreach and providing services to the community. contemporary music and a "praise team" instead of a choir. i admit i stole the praise team idea from northside church but its a great concept.

More Q&A sessions perhaps, more discussion.

The ideal church is not a church, but a local intimate network of committed believers who meet to share their walk with Jesus, augmented by a wider network of connections. The second is now available via internet. If you get together, and are serious, the worship style and outreach becomes whatever is right for each of you.

And I already am a part of something big.

That is exactly right! and well put brother. And yes We are all part of something big. Gods plan. I guess what I should say is what do you think is the best way to reach out to the general population to get people excited and evermore committed to Living their lives Christ?

I am very fond of the non-denominational Community Bible Churches. Mainly because of the generous amount of Bible Teaching, and the fact that they cannot pin a denominaitonal label on you. :) The Church that I grew up in, only had 10-15 minute sermons, a spiritual starvation diet at best, and I daydreamed through most of them. NOW in the Community Church where attend, I ENJOY a one hour expository Sermon, that is preceeded by less than a half hour of beautiful paise music. I think the Sermons should always be longer than the rest of the service because Jesus told Peter three times to FEED MY SHEEP, not sing my songs, or follow my order of service.

Fair question. The best way to reach out is first, to be living in that commitment you speak of, to the point where it changes your own life unto the glory of God, and second, to be present in that world and ready to tell when asked and to take the time to pray, counsel, advise, and plant the seeds.

As for reach-out in the world of today, I feel the Internet is more important than we can imagine. It is the Promised Land of the future, waiting to be taken by the new generation of Joshuas that God is empowering through CC and many other ways.

And what I am a part of is not just "God's plan" generally, but it is in fact such a group doing just that. Our members do in fact witness and get salvations on the internet, in pagan websties, among kids raised by pagans or church deserter parents. We have an outreach Christian website operating now, with at least one more (maybe 2) going to launch by the end of the year. We are an independent group on 5 continents affiliated with a local church via interactive ministry that the local church established on the internet. Our private group share thread on Skype operates nearly 24/7, and the excitement and commitment are completely beyond anything I could have imagined in my 45 years of ministry. Now, to me, that's big.

I like the church I'm in (I'm mormon)
we have 3 hour church, :D we have a sacrament meeting (1 hr) and we sing a few hymns, pray to open and close the meetings, then we go to two different meetings and they're an hour each.

"
Our primary family worship service is called sacrament meeting. This meeting is held in our chapels on Sunday and lasts approximately 70 minutes. Visitors are welcome to attend. It is common for families to attend, and we are accustomed to having children as part of the congregation.
A typical meeting would consist of the following:

  • Hymns: Religious songs sung by the congregation (hymn books are provided).
  • Prayers: Offered by local Church members.
  • Partaking of the sacrament (communion): The sacrament consists of prepared bread and water, which is blessed and passed by priesthood holders to those in attendance who wish to do so.
  • Speakers: Typically a meeting will have two or three assigned speakers.
(Note: We do not pass a plate or request donations as part of our worship services.)
Visitors are also welcome to attend other Sunday meetings that precede or follow sacrament meeting:

Lucetta, it is good to meet you.

Are you a recent convert to Mormonism, or were you raised in it?

The reason I ask, is I am VERY concerned about your spiritual well-being.

I know that Mormons claim to believe in Christ, but which one. I hope and pray that you will give me a chance to share the Truth with you.

Matthew 24:24 (KJV)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

And a false Christ cannot save you. Even the late Mormon Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley who passed away in 2008, said in one of his last sermons from the pulpit in Salt Lake City: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches a different Jesus Christ than the rest of the Churches." That is the truest statement that ever came from the Pulpit in Salt Lake City.

We teach that Jesus Christ is the Creator of Lucifer and everything else that exists, visible and invisible. Col. 1:16-19
But the Mormon Church teaches that Jesus is the Brother of Lucifer.

We teach that there is ONLY one GOD that has ever existed, and that ONE God is made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, YET they are NOT three Gods, but the Three are in reality ONE GOD. Isa. 43:10 and Mat. 28:19.
But the Mormon Church teaches there are MANY Gods, in fact Mormon men believe if they are good enough they will become a god themselves and rule over their own Universe.

It is that belief that bothers me the most, because that is the VERY SAME LIE that Satan used to get Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit.

Genesis 3:1-5 (ESV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
[SUP]2 [/SUP] And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
[SUP]3 [/SUP] but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
[SUP]4 [/SUP] But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
But man can NEVER BECOME A GOD:

Isaiah 43:10 (ESV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.

Do you see why we are concerned. Please let us lead you out of Mormonism. Please let us introduce you to the real Jesus Christ. Please, the real Jesus is standing at the Door to your Heart knocking, but you have to open the door and let HIM in.

All you need to do is admit to GOD that you are a sinner, asking HIM sincerely for forgiveness and guidance.

You then out of a willing heart, ask the real Jesus Christ to come into your heart and rule as your Lord and Master.

Acts 26:20 (HCSB)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] Instead, I preached to those in Damascus first, and to those in Jerusalem and in all the region of Judea, and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works worthy of repentance.

John 1:12-13 (NKJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
[SUP]13 [/SUP] who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:5-7 (NKJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

Colossians 2:6 (NIV)

[SUP]6 [/SUP] So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him,

COME, HE is waiting to be your LORD.
