Change to your heart.

Christians shouldn't only change the things around them. But also change the things of their heart. It like cleaning a dirty lamp with not much oil. Cleaning the outside and nothing changes at all. But if you change the inside of by putting more oil and watch how bright the fire will be. We can continue to change the outside and nothing will happen. The moment we change the things in our hearts and watch as everything. Less fearful, less stressful, more happy, eager to do new things. ( Hopefully that new thing will reading the word or spreading the word.) Make the change not only on the outside but on the inside as well. Allow your light to shine bright.

Yes.
We can clean the inside of the Cup.
Sin is not in the hand or in the eye, otherwise you could simply cut it off or pluck it out and be done with it.
Sin is the motives of the heart behind the actions that are the fruit of that heart.
To confess sin, is not to confess the fruit of sin but the heart of sin, the motives behind our sin.
That is when we see Gods faithfulness to forgive us and cleans us from all the unrighteousness associated with that sin motive of our heart.

Looking to what is behind our outward actions of sin, asking God to search us and show us our own hearts, so we can bring all of that stuff to Him and confess it and be cleansed it how you start.
Once that cup is clean, its time to be filled up and begin to live the rest of your life for the Glory of God.

25 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.[a] 8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘What if there isn’t enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Most certainly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
