It is sad to see a simple issue as tattoos weather it is wrong or right cannot be resolved in this forum. God has given us wisdom let us use it. It is clear that a tattoo cannot stop anyone from following Christ so if a person have them God still loves that person. But if a person is is following Christ and wants to get one, then I would suggest that person meditate more on the things that pertain to godliness.
[h=3]1 Peter 2:15-17[/h]King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]15 [/SUP]For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
[SUP]16 [/SUP]As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Personally feel that tattoos are not a biblical issue unless they are done out of a spirit of rebellion or if they depict things that are blatantly anti-biblical.
I feel like the verses that have been put before me on the subject do not apply to the situation, as my understanding is that Leviticus was written directly to the Jewish people for a time and a place to set them apart. A verse before it speaks to a man not rounding the corners of his head or marring the edges of his beard and I'd love to see pastors follow that rule.
I by no means proclaim to be an expert on the matter but as long as you feel comfortable with your tattoo, and it does not come from a place of rebellion they you are good to go.
Keep in mind tho, tattoos are permanent and should never be taken lightly. Barring a lot of money and expensive laser therapy tattoos are with you for life. People will also judge you based on your tattoos (sad but true) and you should take into consideration how visible its going to be and what perception it will give people.

I personally love both my tattoos and they carry significant meaning to me and feel that they in no way detract or distract from my Christian walk.
While what you state may be true and I will not debate however when our actions give unbelievers occasion to mock God or cause a brother to stumble, that is the angle I would view it from. It is a learning process and we ought not to condemn but to edify each other. God has given us this opportunity to be builders in his kingdom even though we may be miles apart but a chain is still only strong as the weakest link.

Those are great verses.

I myself wouldn't say that having a verse inked that communicates the Gospel to someone is a 'cloak of maliciousness', though. I guess individual believes get to figure whether they themselves would want to communicate the Gospel in this way.

Blessings.

same answer to you, we have a choice in all that we do, obedience to God proves the power of God. Obedience to the flesh proves the weakness of man. Whoever you serve is your master.

Yes, so everything is permissible and I, you and or anyone else gets to decide, whatever they allow; is it beneficial? is what I consider first to me and my neighbor, and yet if my neighbor is grieved by what I allow, then I am to not flaunt that I do it, and not destroy another for whom Christ died
Live at peace as much as possible and Father will take care of the rest, after all it is all in Father's hands to decide, and Father judges motive, hiding behind what one does or not does

One of our attorneys at our firm has the marine symbol on the top of his right shoulder and a cross on his left shoulder, since his is both a believer and a marine.

Tattoos can be self-expression and can by permanent reminders of who God is and what He has done for you.
For a lot of Christians, their tattoos seem to be a meaningful part of their witness. Something that people can identify with and can be communicated, I guess.

I'm going to get a tattoo of a large bird on my back with the hebrew word 'tov' in it. BECAUSE... when people ask me what it means, I can tell them what it means and why I have it on me. since my ill mind has rejected the fact that I have worth, I will mark it on my body to try and reject that I am wothless. Tov is every synonym for 'good'. PERFECT opportunity to talk about Jesus. Something that offers me that opportunity and brings me closer to God cannot be a sin. besides, tattooing isn't 'cutting' the flesh. it's piercing it in tiny tiny spots, like my DERMA-ROLLER which helps collagen production. (I have scars on my face).

Will it be your first tattoo?
