I've always thought so...yes. But like I said, I can be honest and admit that I'm not very educated on this topic. I havn't done much thinking into it or anything. I have just always assumed that it was a sin.

I guess I just clasify it with lust? that's why I view it as sinful I suppose.

Where in the Bible does it say God wants us to sin just so we can be happy?

Masturbation is a sin, and God does not want anyone to sin. If you can't control your lust, Paul gave you the solution: get married. Paul did not say "If you are burning up with lust, masturbate." He said to find you a spouse. Masturbation is a sin because it is all about self, about pleasing your flesh. It's a perversion of what God intended to be between a man and woman.

If you are so controlled by your lust that you can't be happy unless you masturbate, then you have a serious problem. Repent and get right with God.

amen! praise the Lord for your desire for purity.

You know, I just say pray about it yourself. Talk to God about it...see what you think he says about it. Study his word and pray about it. Just ask him for wisdom to know whether or not it is wrong. Everyone will have different opinions on it, but maybe try seeking out a pastor or someone you trust from a church (if u go), that might be able to help you. Seek Him and pray, pray, pray!!! Let him guide you :)

God wants you to be happy. Sexually repressed and frustrated people are not happy, and they are denying nature. Nature says "Touch Yourself" and God created nature.
Nature doesn't say touch yourself. Your sinful desires do. I find it ridiculous that Christians are fine with this. That's absoloutly ridiculous. Get into your bible. Be led by the Holy Spirit and not by Satan. I am "sexually repressed" and never been happier. I have also seen both sides of this being stuck in a masturbation and pornography addiction for 6 years. I wouldn't change being free from the bondage of sin for anything.

the bible doesn't mention masturbation as sinful or unsinful it just isn't in the text
ur right. nowhere does the bible talk about masturbation. but Paul does say for us not to have a "hint" of lust. and idk...im pretty sure masturbation usually involves LUST :/ if u can do it w/ a clear conscience then KUDOS 2 you..lol. but were not suppose to. im not gonna lie, there are times when i do it, only so i wouldnt go and turn to a girl. but we cant compare sin in reality. sin is sin. end of story. so what im trying 2 say is, masturbating with lustful thoughts and fantasies is considered a Sin. should we feel shame? no! Shame is of the devil. Should we try 2 stop if we ARE masturbatin? YES! ive found that when im in deep prayer n reading my word, the urge 2 masturbate hardly ever comes. we must be filled with the spirit, in order 2 not gratify the desires of DEATH. AMEN? :]

I honestly dnt think you should.I know that a lot of Christians do struggle with it. im not so sure its a sin sin but its like one of those things that lead to sin. i would try and stop by blocking my self from websites, taking internet off your phone, in other words get rid of the things that could turn you on.

Which verse in the bible goes against masturbation? Just a question not trying to stir up any anger.

The only time it mentioned masturbation in the Bible was in the story of Onan. He pleasured himself and "Spilt his seed on the earth" and I think for that he was punished. The reason is that they believed that men had a limited supply of semen and to waste it was a "sin."
Since then, science has proven that men produce new semen 24/7, and sometimes it is even healthy for us to relieve that pressure. Another example of an old superstition dying hard.
It said nothing whatsoever about female Onanism in the Bible, so even if you are that old-fashioned, you may as well go ahead.

I like what the Talmud has to say about it, "in the case of a man, the hand that reaches below the navel should be chopped off." (Niddah 13a)

Yes, I know y'all could care less about what the Talmud has to say, but that is still an awesome passage.

the bible does not have 2 mention something directly, in order 4 us not to do it. but there are a few scriptures that go with this subject.
EPHESIANS 5:3
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh
saints;
1 JOHN 5:21
Keep yourself from idols.
or
Keep away from anything that might take God's place in your hearts.

masturbation is a form of UNCLEANNESS, because masturbation usually involves lustful thought or fantasies. The bible says to not even look at a woman with LUST. I BELIEVE, so its just my opinion, that if you able 2 masturbate without any lustful thoughts then it's not a sin :] Sometimes the DESIRE 2 masturrbate comes from the images we see on TV, girls at school or in the streets, or especially the INTERNET. But i KNOW that if u keep ur head out of the WORLD, n dive into PRAYER and THE WORD then it will become much easier 2 stay away from MASTURBATION. :]
and
the 2nd scripture i put up is relevant as well
MASTURBATION can become an idol
it can get in the way of ur relationship w/ Godd
if masturbation causes someone 2 feel shame, or dirty, or not worthy..
then it takes gods place in ur heart because more than likely u will not be able 2 pray or seek god
have u ever tried gooing into some prayer or reading the word right after masturbating? lol
thats a serious question....most likely u wont be able 2 :]
well i tried my best 2 answer ur question w/ scripture. i hoped this helped.
and if im wrong, i hope the LORD corrects me :]

not exactly and actually song of solomon might reference femal masturbation. Secondly where did you get the idea that they thought they only had a limited amount of semen? also the bible doesn't say he masturbated what it says is that "But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother" genesis 38:9 which doesnt mention masturbating but rather coitus interruptus. also where did the idea that wasting semen as a sin come from what is your source?

I would say masturbation is a sin, I dont believe God wants us to masterbate because it is something that is making us lustful and desiring something that is not meant to be a part of our lives. Sex is reserved for marriage but yet we are human so therefore masturbation is a common problem among Christians. And in a way it may be stopping you from going around and sleeping with people, but I dont think thats true I think its making it more tempting when you are in a relationship and increases your need for sexual gratification. I don't believe that that is right, and although I cant even say its not a problem I havent dealt with and still deal with but I know its sin, and I know its not what I should be doing.

masturbation use to get me ready for sex and when masturbated I was ready to sin. I mean really fornicate which is in the bible as sin. alcoholics have to stay out the bar. and if you have ever fornicated and want to repent don't make yourself hot. Sin is at the door and the wages of sin is death. If you can not contain yourself you should marry. If you don't want to marry don't masturbate women do that when a date is coming over and you will be setting yourself up for the fall. The safest place to be is with in the will of God. Jesus told a man go and sin no more or something worst will happen to you.

Masturbation isn’t a sin lol, show me a scripter that can be interoperated to say masturbation is a sin and I'll recant, it’ll be quite a hard task since there ISNT ONE. There’s nothing wrong with it and it has had way to much scorn from religious people who quite frankly could do with some uh sexual release themselves if you ask me. lol. As long as you’re not masturbating over the thought of doing something sexual with someone else, cause of the whole 'If any man (or woman) looks at a woman (or man) to lust after them (when they are not married to them) he commits the sin already in his heart. But I know for a fact that it is quite possible to masturbate without dwelling on thoughts like that. God gave us these bodies to enjoy, so yeah..
