Don't let yourself get too busy preaching to the unsaved, when the ''saved'' are lacking in encouragement, and half an inch from falling away forever.

Don't let yourself get too caught up by the starved for food, when right behind you the starved for love are on the ledge.

Don't let yourself get too intent on saving the third world, when the first world is full of the damned.

Don't let yourself think that even making someone's day a little brighter is too simple to be worth doing.

No matter how great, or how little the act, any act of love is worth doing. Never forget those that suffer in the far world, that live with nothing, and no one. Just don't forget:

There are millions of people right here trying to fill empty holes with things that are equally empty. They need someone too.

Thanks, Ninotori, that's a very good message :). It seems like too often here in the U.S. we think we have to go down to South America to work for God, when there are so many hurting and receptive people right in our own backyards. EVERYONE needs Jesus.........:)

You're right about the importance of encouraging other believers, too.......we are all called to that, aren't we? :) God bless, Sister!

If only they would preach this in churches as well, communities would be much more blessed

I have mixed emotions about this. UM i never feel like i've been called to go on a mission trip. i'm sure it would be an eye opening expeireiance but i don't think going to other countries and showing them God is my calling. but i know a bit about how people work here, and the reason they fall away from God and don't see him is because we're not SHOWING him. they've heard the stories. a lot of people if they didn't grow in in church have been a few times with friends. they've "tried" the Jesus thing. its not the preaching thats going to change their heart. its going to be us showing them the love of God. changing their lives by showing them that we care simply becuse God has put that love in our heart.

i grew up in church and no amount of preaching was going to make me give my life to christ. i grew up watching leaders doing the wrong things so felt like that was ok. but there were these two christian girls at my school who were SO weird. they wouldn't curse, wouldn't date, and they were just so holier then thou. they were also really fun ppl so i would hang out with them. well one day i made the mistake of cheating on my boyfriend for "some fun" all those people who i "thouht" were my friend and would "have my back" were gone. i mean they were right there when the act happened! but i was an outcast. and those girls came to me and said, "i'm dissapointed, but i'd never leave you." i didn't have anyone else to turn to so i followed them but i know now that it was only God speaking through them.

so if you're preaching here at home just remember its not about who you've talked to or if they've heard it, its about you living out God words. and your fruit will show exactly what kind of tree you are. >_^
