Please seek godly counseling, someone whom you can trust. Talk about this stuggle you are facing, and don't let it sit inside. It will take over you and hurt you're walk with Jesus. Talk to someone who understands and knows what you are feeling. Jesus died for you and nobody can understand more than he does, so talk to him first. He is humble, he is not going to be angry with you. He sees you're pain and deeply wants to help you.

Very good advice. ....only thing i would add is never give your number out on a forum....just because it is a Christian forum doesn't mean everyone is Christian who comes here.....

I'll give my number out to everyone, I couldnt care less who has it. If your using it to help then awesome and if your using it for some other reason then bring it on.

However for 10 years I have abused everything besides the needle or heroin. Alcohol is the basis of all my drug problems, as I never use coke sober but being that I drink every day and have a very well paying job in the Alberta oil sands I have no shortage of expendable income which only fuels my issues. I also hide the problem from my family and do not have any Christian friends to help me.

My brother I have had many friends and family members with this same issue. Perhaps God intended us to talk with one another. The best advice I can give to you is to seek professional help. Go to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting ASAP. I'm sure google can help you find one close to you. Again I know many LEADERS in the church who struggled with this and overcame THIS WAY. It's best to just get rid of the addiction now and minimize the damage that these addictions will do to your body dude. Keep your chin up, go to AA meetings, and lean on God.

He'll get you where you need to be.

Much love brother.

Hi again there @MySavior
Best advise I can offer is do not isolate yourself, get involved, before you know it...you will be very busy and the other stuff will be irrelevant

IMHO

The main thing you have to remember is that God loves you very much, and Jesus died for all your sins and does not condemn you. He wants you to keep your eyes on him, because when God looks at you, he looks at Jesus which is our High Priest and perfect. You are God's Righteousness through our Savior Jesus Christ, tell yourself that everyday. Arm your mind with the Word of God, read the Gospel of John. All Things work out for His Glory.
A good idea is join a celebrate recovery group in church.
My 2 cents

Hey I know i am a bit slow on the reply here. Part of being in the oil industry as you probably know is being in isolation from the rest of the world too which wouldnt help your situation. I work out of grande prairie for the service rigs so i can relate to you even though i have never been addicted to either. We can definitely chat sometime if you want. Sorry if someone else mentioned this already but my recommendation would be to get out of the industry, even until you can sort out your addictions. I believe there is a bible verse that says something like, if your right hand causes you to sin cut it off. In other words if your work is the root causing you to sin then cut it out of your life. Im not judging because obviously im far from perfect. Im just trying to help out. Hope you understand.
