I have heard a lot of guys ask if its a sin, but what about females? is it the same? is it even a sin? If it is then why are there so many health benefits to it? This is a question I have been wondering about for years. I know everyone has there own opinion on this issue. i am just curious.

I recommend this to be posted in the ladies forum, in my opinion.

As a guy, I fail to see why a woman can do it when I can't, unless there is some sort of scriptural double standard about lust I'm not aware of.

there are only health benefits for it because it burns calories...that's a poor excuse for trying to justify it when there are other ways to burn calories. The Bible never really addresses masturbation as an issue. However, it does address that lust is an issue. I'm going to speak from personal experience. Don't get involved with trying to fulfill your desires this way. It gets you involved in a whole other hoopla of temptations as well..

Hoopla. What an appropriately descriptive word for such a sensitive topic.

Personally, I like to take the stairs instead of the elevator to burn calories.

But yes, the main issue is that there are a number of other issues which will attach themselves to this one issue. Maybe the ladies can chime in, but as a man, I find that this type of behavior tends to leave one focused on the desires of the flesh, even if there was no lust that occurred during the activity.

Lust is sinful as is sins of the flesh. To even think these thoughts is sinful.
Plus get a spin bike it's way healthier for the body and while spinning read God's word! Feed both the body and mind...
This works for me anyhow.

To stay in line with the teachings of Christ I personally never do anything that I would not do infront of my earthly father. Because everything I do is seen by my Heavenly Father.

Resist temptations of mommentary pleasure and sustain happiness with Jesus! He died so we may have eternal life. Again I don't do anything that I would not do with Christ beside me. For that's where He is.

It is like lots of life's choices, they all have consequences. It's a moment verses most thing. Never do anything in the moment that could compromise what matters most.
For me serving Christ and loving as He instructed matters most.

Love you all,
lexi

Once you feed that monster it grows. And even if you can "keep your mind clean" while doing it (which is impossible, you're just lying to yourself and everyone else if you say that you're not lusting over someone or something during that kinda thing) you'll never be able to satisfy that monster and you're gonna go looking for other ways to get more and more. . . . .and then you'll end up doing things and in horrible places and back alley way's and your best friend's bathroom and all kinds of weird gross places that should be kept Lovely and pretty and enjoyable and something thats an act of LOVE and not "GIVE IT TO ME"

its like touching a giant sticky trap and you might not get stuck to it at first but keep messing with it and you'll be all tangled up. hope this helps.

This isn't in the womens section because there is a 1 week period after joining where it is not open to women, to prevent trolls. User has only been on the site 5 days.

Masturbation is masturbation. There may be different "techniques" for guys and girls, but the act is exactly the same. There are many debates on whether it's really a sin or not, but for me personally I think it is. It's lust, and considered to be sexual immorality.

Its not impossible. So don't say it's lying to yourself. speak on your behalf.

Yeah well... I didn't think we'd have to go here but I guess we did.

Thinking about that really sexy tree you saw the other day, or the sports car, or whatever else might do the job doesn't work very well. If your mind doesn't wander towards some kind of lust then you've got to tell me your secret where you can turn off every single emotion.

I won't try it but it could be useful to learn how to completely shut off my emotions.

I would simply ask is it a sin for men to fornicate but not women? Sin is sin is sin, regardless of gender. Masturbation has health benefits, but it also has health risks, not to mention the spiritual darkness invited in and the lust that is whetted and constantly indulged in. The Bible says to flee sexual immorality. I firmly believe masturbation falls under that category, whether in marriage or out. It is a selfish act of self-pleasuring and it taints the true intimacy of sex as God intended between a man and his wife.

Men do engage is sexual sin more than women. So female sexual issues tend to be side stepped if not out right ignored. Clearly this is an issue with the church and needs to be rectified.

Yeah, there is a stigma for women to talk about sexual issues, which I think leads to under reporting in a lot of cases, which in turn leads people to believe that women in the church don't have as many issues with sexual sins. This is a circular problem.

A man can come out and say he has "problem x" or "problem y", and so long as he's actually interested in solving those problems and moving forward in his walk with Christ, he usually doesn't become a pariah as long as he hasn't been too public about the issue.

Kind of a double standard going on there.
