Years ago, I saw a profound video of John Piper and these are the notes I took from it (unfortunately my battle with porn addiction still went on for a while until, with Jesus, I finally defeated it, but I found these thoughts very comforting nevertheless):

In Jesus we ARE made free from the law of sin. We are not meant to fall back into the justification through trying to fulfilling the law. In our own strength we will NEVER make it!

Romans 8, verses 1 (Justification) and 2 (Sanctification).
"In Jesus" there is no condemnation for us.
"In Jesus" we are made free.

Jesus paid my ENTIRE debt, God HAS already condemned my sin in Jesus, therefore I AM eternally FREE (verse 2), JESUS CHRIST DIED (!!!) for ME. There is NO more condemnation.

Romans 7:6: We are free from the law!!!

The sword of Damocles IS taken away.
Let that sink in.
The doors of heaven ARE open for you.

In this newness and freedom, we want to serve in freedom, out of love and in liberty.

We fight NOT THAT we might be redeemed!!! But we fight BECAUSE we ARE ALREADY free!!! Super important difference!

JESUS deserves ALL the glory for our salvation and we have 0.0 part in it.

Prayer: let me not be a Pharisee fighting (subtly) for my acceptance before God in my own strength.
Therefore:

Fight your sin like a victor and not a victim!

More temptations will come!
But we are warriors who have WINNER status, and we therefore go into battle full of joy and strength and hope!
Yeshua told us that in this life we will have many troubles, but we can be of good cheer for HE has overcome the world (John 16:33).

I would like to add:
Of course, the Apostle Paul makes clear that this is NOT a license to sin. But as long as we fight sin with all we’ve got and are seriously at war with sin, this fully applies to us.

Do you have thoughts on that?
