Prayer was something I didnt always truly have. My family i grew up with told us to pray for our food basically and other people said we can talk to him and pray i tough times. So for many years i just prayed (so i thought) because thats how i was raised, yet the ones who taught me werent even saved then or now! they were just raised that way as well. And being a sinner and trying to pray, my prayers were never answered, so i began to believe God was not real or either not listening. Yet, i read and found that the only time he hears a prayer from a sinner is when they are confessing their sin and wanting to be saved. After i was saved, i became completely different in prayer and many things. As i was saved, my heart wants to talk to the Lord all the time. As i was saved, I "knew" I was not going to Hell and never will. as i wake up, times throughout the day, before bed, i pray about many things and talk with the Lord. And all the time now he answers my prayers. Yet, i also learn you need to know not to just say what you want that isn't right. Like saying i would ask you Lord for a lot of money or a new car. You can ask for those things, but why? and never use prayer to test God if you know what i mean. When a person is saved, it can only be done by Jesus who made the sacrifice. once the person truly meant it from their heart and asked Jesus to save them from sin and Hell, they knew without a doubt they will be in Heaven. I believe naturally if you have the Holy Spirit you will see many good things and blessings and will know where u got them from and will want to thank God. and when you see yourself or others in needs (not wants) you will pray for them because that will be your hearts desire as when you got saved. this code stuff and michael jackson and such sounds stupid. Yes, you can talk to God, but remember you cant get to him without Jesus. if you are saved, you'll know it, if you dont know for sure then go and tell him now with true honesty and confessing your sins to him wanting Jesus to save you, then remember that date to always remind you that you are saved, Jesus is always with you, and you have a place in Heaven he made for you, and you can cheer everyday that you're saved. and prayer isnt always easy, but we can grow spiritually and be closer to God and it will be like talking to your best friend
