In my experience, they tend to leave faster if you act like you aren't really religious but are open minded to what they say. Take their cards or pamphlets or whatever they're handing out and say thank you. Don't discuss any of your beliefs to someone trying to convert you to something else. This only fuels them more.

Pretend you are mildly interested and be polite. Lie and say you'll think about it. They will think it's a job well done and leave faster.

If you are in a hurry, saying no thanks and shutting the door works too.

In no way am I meaning to bash any religion. I'm just saying I can understand the annoyance of someone trying to convert me to something. To me it's really awkward and something that should be personal.

them coming to your door over and over and over, is an annoyance, it's a false doctrine, plain and simple, they dont want to hear they are wrong, i really appreciate the one who came to my door and proclaimed i was going to hell because I wasn't a jehova witness

understand I dont personally hate them or anything, but it's completely against the biblical truths, and then they get obnoxious about it, I dont like false prophets hanging around my house

I treat them with kindness and am polite, and I testify of the truth of Christ to them. I think you should too. ;)

We should have compassion, and not contempt.

Door slams aren't very effective in trying to witness to a person.

I have a Jehovah's Witness friend. He's extremely kind, gentle, and he believes God is loving. People take advantage of him. They get money from him and don't pay him back. He's always smiling. Always happy to be around.

His heart's good.

When was the last time any of us spent eight hours going round talking about God?

Bring them in. What's to fear?

Do you know God?

Do they know God?

Who has seen God's face? . . . ..

We all eat for the same reason. And we all poop too.

Question: are you argumentative? Consider your demeanor. I would say if you are as frustrated as you sound with them then your best bet is to just close the door a walk away. When we don't like someone, no matter how hard we try, we tend to come off rudely.

i tend to get frustrated when you polietly explain that you dont believe the same things they do, and they continue to stay on your porch after you have politely told them to leave, then they have the nerve to knock on your door again and try to debate you

eh have you just flat out told them to stop, I dont see a point in bashing their religion like some of the people on here would resort to that would just cause argument but a good NOOOOOO will make some people stop.

I'm not bashing their religion,. you tell them to stop and they want to argue, this country has freedom of religion, I know what they believe is wrong as all Christians should, but they have the right to believe it, but what they dont have the right to do is continue to hang around after they have worn out their welcome, as they think they have the right to do, you could be a follower of the Koolaid man if you want, but dont continue to argue you are right after I have nicely asked you to leave

Well it isn't technically lying if you do indeed think about it. You aren't telling them you're only thinking about it for 10 seconds...

I will only resort to the half-fib when pushed with too many personal questions by extremely pushy people who have no right to ask what they're asking. Desperate times call for dealing with things in ways I don't normally want to.

People scare me.

I literally just went over a similar topic in the klife (smallgroup ministry) group, dont lash back with witty comments down trodding their religion because God doesnt want us being hateful to anyone, to go back on a very old saying and verse turn the other cheek though theyre going to trash God just say sorry but I have no interest in your religion because i am a christian and believe whole heartedly in my religion, then bid them goodbye and shut the door. Youre not being rude youre just politely telling them to leave you alone.

We are to tell the truth.

If you want to lie, that is your prerogative.
