Sunday evenin',
cold and drizzlin' rain,
I passed an old woman on the side of the road,
with a Bible and a tambourine.
Her clothes were not so fine,
but she was dressed up all the same.
She was waitin' on a ride somewhere to church,
to praise Jesus name.
Well I kept on drivin'
but I did not get far.
I turned myself around,
and made room in my car.
Well the rain had started fallin'
and the hour was getting late.
I felt a burden on my heart,
and I heard a voice say,
If I was hungry, would you get me something to eat?
And if I was thirsty, would you give me a drink?
If I was a stranger, would you take me in?
For what is done for the least of us, you know is done for him.
Well, I used to be a skeptic.
I just could not believe,
that God had come as the Son of Man,
so we could all be free.
But then, I went through some heartache
and I almost took my life.
But the people prayed for poor pitiful me,
and Praise God I saw the light!
If I was dressed in ragged clothin' would
you buy me new to wear?
If I was sick and sore, afflicted, would
you come and give me care?
If I was locked up in a prison would
you visit there with me?
For what is done for the least of us you know it's done for him.
So let us, watch out for the helpless.
Provide for the poor.
Let's do all we can for others,
And learn not to keep a score.
For, somebody needs some mercy,
And one day it might be you!
So search your little heart and ask,
"What would Jesus do?"
