In response to the question, "is smoking marjuana a sin," I would have to suggest that anything that isn't good for you is surely a sin. I'm speaking from the standpoint of someone who was a teenager in the late sixties and in college in the seventies. I smoked marijuana during that time to some degree along with most everyone else at the time, though I gave it up after college. But I have seen the results of people smoking down through the years, and it isn't good. As you said yourself, it promotes laziness, larthargia (if that's a word) and eventually the inability to think as clearly as you once did. It also produces a false sense of euphoria, which prevents a person from facing and thereby seeking to solve their problems. Something that does these things can't be considered good for you, which in my opinion, puts it in the area of sin. It can't be good for your lungs, either, just like cigarettes. When it comes to cancer patients using it for pain, that obviously falls into a different category. Otherwise, everything should be done to the glory of God, and surely that's where the final distinction lies. Is being lazy, falsely euphoric and therefore less productive than you would otherwise be something God would desire from you? Does it make you your best self when it comes to serving others?

Well is it not true that in Biblical times the term "wine" was also used for unfermented grape juice?

I don't think it's a sin, but I believe anything that alters you, like marijuana, alcohol ect should not be used by any one. It destroys you, and I would not like to let God down. He has expectations for us, and if we destroy ourselves, we can not live out our expectations with God. :)

Well, Marijuana is a sin. Sorry I did it too, well the reason why its a sin is because when we smoke it we loose the grip on reality and control on our lives. when we do that Satan comes in. Yes he does possess Christians too and causes you to sin. the bible says, Guard you heart, and be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. We must not let the Devil control us. Anything that takes the sobriety of our mind away by choice such as, alcohol and drugs is a tool Satan uses to enter in us and cause us to sin maybe even take our lives away. Remember, Satan can not touch you if you are Sober. This one time I was preaching to this guy online, one day he comes home drunk, got online and as soon as i said hello Satan took over him with 9 demon then he turned on the camera and tried to cut his wrists with a switch blade. Therefore Be Sober
if you have an addiction send a message and I ll answer

MaRss, you asked for an opinion and he gave it. I don't think he meant "you" as in you, you, (sorry, lol). I think he meant those doing the drugs. I don't agree that a person who smokes pot, doesn't have love for God, though. I think that it's that the person is lost, and searching. Searching, I feel, in the wrong places. When you are "high" on God, it is more amazing then any high you can get.

Having said that, I have smoked pot when much younger, and it hurt me. So, I can give a little testimony to that respect. I do feel that God gave medicine and for the person, who has extreme pain, should be able to use it medicinally. It doesn't kill and it does help the pain. Also, if a cancer patient has lost his or her appetite, marijuana can help them be hungry.

Just giving my opinion.

Everything on earth is God's creation and beautifully good in its own function. Everything has a balance that it was created for. Once the balance is thrown off by sin we see the consequences of sin. Mankind takes his creation and abuses it further than what it's intended for then it becomes a health risk. Obviously, marijuana has health benefits and used for...

fuel, paper, food, rope, maps, clothes, nets, lace, soap, sails, shoes, plastics, explosives, caulking, fiberboard, paint, sealant, methanol, gasoline, fibre for fuel, bricks, charcoal, auto bodies, packing mass, lubricants, oil for lighting, oil for fuel, oil for lights, animal food, furniture, mats, varnish, lotions, ointments, lacquer, salad dressings....
There are an estimated 50,000 commercial uses. Until about 100 years ago almost all the world's bibles maps,
sails,
clothes and books were made out of cannabis. Much of the world's population has survived by eating hemp seed, cooked into a porridge called 'gruel'.

The only problem for the Christian living under the law of God and man is taught in
[h=1]
Romans 13Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
[/h][h=3]A Christian’s Duties to the State[/h]13 Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God.2 So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval. 4 For government is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. 5 Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath, but also because of your conscience. 6 And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s public servants, continually attending to these tasks. 7 Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.

So if marijuana was legal it would be okay only used in very small amounts where a person still has self-control and non-mind altering. Just like alcohol is okay until a person hits buzzed and drunk then it becomes abused. But just like many churches will say no completely because even though Jesus drank wine we are weak and may give the wrong impression to the unsaved. Plus also I know people say weed isn't addictive but we must also be cautious to unhealthy addicting habits. Because in

Romans 6New Living Translation (NLT)
[/h]16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

Addicting habits or substances that can cause health issues, that could be addicting we should refrain from doing or using. And since weed is in many uses a
so called stress relief substance. People abuse it because they can not find any other way to deal with stress except being stoned, drunk, or addicted to the feel good sensation of that next high, buzz, or cigarette.

So no Christians that are under the law of government should not break the law. But Christians that are free under the law should be very cautious with its usage and who they use it around. We are the light and sometimes the only light a unbeliever will see.

1 Corinthians 8Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
[/h] 9 But be careful that this right of yours in no way becomes a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone sees you, the one who has this knowledge, dining in an idol’s temple, won’t his weak conscience be encouraged to eat food offered to idols? 11 Then the weak person, the brother for whom Christ died, is ruined[b] by your knowledge. 12 Now when you sin like this against the brothers and wound their weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ.13 Therefore, if food causes my brother to fall, I will never again eat meat, so that I won’t cause my brother to fall.

Be cautious with your choices and remember everything we do should only bring glory back to God.
