Because some people have a lot of murder and hate in their mind, yet on the outside appear as gentle as lambs. I call it Christian extremism. Except they will counter that argument with, words of a lamb.

I know many here support it because the Bible does, doesn't mean I have too. Why repay killing with more killing? Why stoop to their level?

They put a man to death in Alabama just yesterday. From what I know he was not one man you would like to meet in a back alley, yet there is something that doesn't feel right when the state is killing folks.

why are you even reading the new testament?
You reject parts of the New Testament... such as Romans 13:1-6, and Galatians 6:7,8

I'd repent if I were you for opposing God's Will.

What I get from Christians is that if I want to call myself a Christian I therefore must support the death penalty. Believe it or not, I never use the bible in counter arguments. I'm not againt punnishment whatsoever, just feel there are better ways. Plus, innocent people have been executed later to find out to be innocent. How is that fair?
What I get from Christians is that if I want to call myself a Christian I therefore must support the death penalty. A person who claims to be a Christian should be basing his/her life on Scripture, which, as I suspect you know, was given to Christians to guide our lives. What you wrote in your post #30, however, suggests the Christians don't have to use the Christian Bible as our ultimate source of authority:

I know many here support it because the Bible does, doesn't mean I have too. Why repay killing with more killing? Why stoop to their level?

There are people who believe in infant baptism, tithing, calvinism, the Word of Faith movement, and so on. While I disagree with people who hold these positions, if they do support(or attempt to) their views with Scripture I generally do not question their Christianity.

You, on the other hand, are seemingly tossing out the Bible and saying "I'll believe what I want from the Bible and disregard the rest". If you made an attempt to reject the death penalty and based it on Scripture and it turned out to be weak attempt it would be better than what you're doing right now.

Believe it or not, I never use the bible in counter arguments. When I'm dealing with the general public, I usually act out my faith without directly quoting the Bible. That's quite a bit different than tossing out the Bible.

Plus, innocent people have been executed later to find out to be innocent. How is that fair? Innocent people have died because of a great many things in life. Should we ban everything that kills? Cars kill. Knives kill. How is that fair?
