As long as the game you are playing glorifies God and you don't rob him of your private time together and don't go to church because you are playing your game its fine in my book.

I think games are evil in a few ways. They have contributed to our anti-social and individualistic society. They have contributed to physical problems like RSI and eye problems and obesity. Their content fills the mind with fantasy which makes it hard to determine the difference particularly for teens. They encourage addictive behaviour. In some ways playing a pokie machine is better because at least you may get some tangible reward if you hit the jackpot. I guess the average christian has wasted countless hours of their life playing games which could have been put to better use like serving God.
i think you are wrong in some games being anti-social is not rue i mean for one you can play over the interent which you could class as being social but there are get togethers and events that invite games to have a good time in one place. i dont see how you get eye problems i mean its like the myth if you site in front of a tv to long your eyes get damaged this is not true its been tested and the kids eye were as fine as ever as far obesity i say its half and half but not every gamer is fat slob that person is just lazy if he or she wasnt playing game they proberly be on the net or watchting tv or a film. filling kids minds with stuff so they dont know whats reality again i belive that is jsut an excuse teens use when they get into trouble or their is something wrong with your head. now for addicitive behave i again say that depends on the person like gambleing or watching loads of film unlike a drug abuses who actully needs a drug to function proberly otherwise they go cold turkey

Well I have heard the case for sports games, Racing boxing, football ect. I mean do board games puzzles and chatrooms glorify God? I have heard the case either way. There are valid points to both sides.
If it does not the basis of sinful lust and desires that are fulfilled by or distract from your walk with the Lord or stumble another and you can have good fellowship with the game. Then I don't see a problem with playing it.

I'm a gamer lol

I play a lot of RPGs, which are VERY time-consuming. While I spend a large amount of my time playing games (like 8+ hours?), I don't let it get in the way of anything. I still make it to church, spend time with God, make strait As, ect. I believe in the near future, my time won't be as plentiful as it is now though lol.

As far as game content, there's a certain amount I will allow. For example, the blood and language of games such as Bioshock and Call of Duty can easily be ignored without following the examples, unless you have a tendency towards violence or cursing yourself. I think that games involving sex are universally dangerous, though honestly it's especially bad in me. Also, games with a TON of unnecessary cursing like Saint's Row and GTA should be avoided.

I play competitively (not professionally though), so I'm more focused on gameplay than anything else. I can easily ignore the trash, but I can't say that this applies to everyone, and you should learn your strengths and weaknesses and be careful ^_^

It depends on the game, if its about killing then its bad, if it has to do with magic its bad But games like sims... well they might not be evil but it has "no killing" "no monsters" some of them have "lustful scences" when they want to have a baby... but you cant see them you know you mostly just see pixels & the heads... & thats only in SOME sims games forgot which ones.. & when they take a shower or use the potty their bodies become pixels so you also cant see anything.
As for sims 3 im not sure if it is more lustful & has monsters (im guessing it does) thats a different story but the older sims games have less of those things or non of those things, Like for example the farthest they went was kissing/making out from what i remember...
Bad thing... It does not praise God Or have God worshiping music in it =/
& it wastes your time there the hours fly by & soon its night... you wasted a day when you could have spent it with family.

Think about it in this concept. If someone goes to court because they've committed a crime, but they have some sort of mental illness and they don't see it as a crime, they're going to be judged accordingly.
God will do the same to us.
You will be judged and convicted but the "punishment" may not be what you believe it to be. That is why the concept of manslaughter is available - the punishments associated with this is wide and varied depending on the case and not always resulting in prison, jail, or execution. Yes, convicted but not necessarily held responsible in that sense.

I agree playing video games in itself is not a sin. The amount of time spent doing so or the types of games played is where problems can arise.
half agree.
i believe that our life should be devoted to God 24/7
always asking "does what i am doing now, glorify God?"
and if not, stop, and if so, do.
Does games glorify God in anyway.
i feel like its a waste of time, and devil using it to distract christians to seek God, as well as other entertainments.
Think, is your playing game 2 hours worth more than 2 hours with God reading his Word.
If reading His word is not more exciting than playing worldy game, then i think we need to re-examine our faith.

ps. i was into games, trust me. But i realize that this is all devil's work to distract us from coming of Jesus. If we say Jesus is our Lord and King, and we lay our life down FOR him, why arent we giving up what we WANT to do. :p

i really dont think God has much of a problem if I play some condemned, red faction, or street fighter to wind down. If you are spending more time with your games than with god i could see an issue. But done in moderation its no different than watching a movie. I would say play age appropriate games but it seems that we all pass the level for M-rated games anyways.
