The bible says "don't get married". Also the saying goes "see each other often, live apart". - Some famous actress. I tend to agree with that to some degree. Love marriages tend to mostly fail. Arranged marriages seem to work out more often. But I think in general unless you're just dying to have kids then marriage is extremely risky. The problem the way I see it is it was once an incredibly good thing. But in modern times the PTB have co-opted it, perverted it and simply turned it into another of there money making schemes'. That's why I don't like the idea, because it's been turned into a g--v trap. no different than college and how's it's become a big scam and other life traps. I'm not saying it all bad. And I'm not saying it shouldn't be tried either. Everyone is different but again I just hate the fact that the g00v has so perverted it that it's no longer worth doing. It's now become another life trap like every other g--v trap, or institution.

i would say between 20 and 30 just for the sake of having the kids out of the house before you're OLD...if you end up having any....too late for me on THAT front though...lol

of course, 'best age' is very relative; only you can know what your best age for marriage is.

but im thinking somewhere in the 20s is good :)
oh, btw matt, i think marriage is a great thing. it is an institution created by God. Paul only said he wished ppl wouldnt get married because that would free them up more for ministry. but marriage is honorable.

and lastly, who's the PTB?

Its difficult to say what is the ideal age to get married, there isn't a perfect formula. The whole purpose of the thread is to find out what people perceive as the ideal age for marriage :)

It think it would be weird if it was the same age for everyone, but God has different paths for each of his children.

When you can treat another person respectfully and aren't just using them as emotional crutches or an excuse to have sex. That might be 13, it might be 30, it might be never.

While this is true, I would like to add to this. A marriage will always be successful if the roots of the relationship is based on the word of god, strong faith. I'm a strong believer that "A family that prays together always stays together". Stability ( must support your family) would be the second main attribute. This verse from the bible would sum it up.

1 Timothy 5:8
Everyone should take care of all their own people. Most important, they should take care of their own family. If they do not do that, then they do not accept what we believe. They are worse than someone who does not even believe in God.

Avoiding addictions, this could be anything from something simple such as spending too much time in front of the TV, working long hours and not spending time with family ( while this not maybe an addiction its something very common these days) or something more severe such as addiction to alcohol, drugs etc

A bit off the topic, but I felt I needed to add this to the discussion.

I'd say that the best time is when God brings the right one to you, and you're mature enough to handle that responsibility

You are christian. the world or any of its systems really should not be a basis of your decision to get married or not. it should only be GOD, marriage is awesome i believe, i do know a few married people that are truly leaving it as GOD planned it to be. not arranged by parents, not put into basis of G--v trap, but GODS view, and agreement.

29-32 is a good age since you would have had more than enough time to know your future wife and having been assured by GOD on the concept of getting married

very true, to be responsible indeed. let me give you an example of me, lol.. i am not going to get married ANY time soon neither am i looking for any girlfriend, the desire is there yes, but am firm on my choice and God has not said anything against it. i know am not ready to have a wife. basically saying we have to truly be honest with ourselves on who we are. what we do and what we can do before we go on and have a wife or starting seeking out for ""death do us apart lady".

i believe one has to be matured Spiritually, financially, and other necessary fields. we must know how to love those close to us, and those GOD brings to us, if we have failed with one who we see not on a daily basis. imagine with one we will everyday.

But the preparation of the heart is man, but GOD has the final say..

Be blessed bro, and this is a wonderful post

I am married, and while we have had our problems, I believe that God brought him to me, and that it was the right time for us to be married. I've never been very self-observant, or very good at thinking of myself highly, so I'm not sure if I was mature enough. But I guess God has more faith in me than I do. God won't give you a trail you can't handle. Marriage is no picnic, I can say that. :)
What matters is that you love God, and each other. There's no other foundation for anything, that is nearly as strong, as a foundation on God

There is no "best age" for everyone. But statistically speaking...people who wait until they have been seeing each other for at least 2 years and are over the ages of 26 when they marry are less likely to wind up divorced than younger couples who have dated for a shorter period.

Those are just statistics though. They don't reflect what is true for everyone. Some people emotionally mature early, some later, and some never emotionally mature. Depends on the individuals.
