David Phelps and the Gaither vocal band attracted my husband and i to Christ. Now I am blessed to listen to Casting Crowns, Hillsong, Delirious,Tim Hughes...What would I do without praise and worship music! The Lord inhabits the praises of His people...in His presence is the fullness of joy...Find the words have so much meaning compared to secular music...melodies are so beautiful too. Try to play along on my piano, love the chord construction etc etc, so I guess what I want to say is that I love Christian music, not all of course.

I'm afraid I side with rainacorn on this, still. I have nothing against the message, just the musicianship.

Neal Morse is one of the only Christian musicians I enjoy listening to, and once more - I'm not impressed with the lyrical content. It's just not moving or thought provoking. But his writing and technical ability on an instrument are stellar!

Tim Tebow makes his living smashing into other people with the collision force equal to a violent car accident, so is he considered a Christian in your eyes? One of the better MMA fighters is an ordained minister, does his message lose luster with you? Have you ever driven faster than the speed limit, fudged your taxes, laughed at a racist joke, or drank to the point of drunkenness? If so, based on the way you are interpreting things, your message should not be listened to and adhered to.
Tim Tebow has an awesome Ministry, you should check what he does for sick kids. Show me the verse where football is a sin. And how does driving 60 in a 55 relate to giving my money to someone who spends it on drugs etc? Your whole argument is flawed and irrelevant.

Totally and completely missing the point all together.

You never mentioned drugs in the message I responded to. You labeled banging into one another as inappropriate. Football players hit each other with DEADLY force on every play, yet I'm guessing you don't discredit Tim Tebow for choosing football as his profession. Driving 60 in a 55 absolutely relates to drugs. They are both sins, and all are sins in the eyes of God, not a ranked itemized list of sins. We are supporting imperfect people when we support Christian music, but in my experience working many types of Christian music shows, the ones who bang into each other and have mosh pits are typically the ones who are most dedicated and uplifting to God. I can absolutely tell you that I'd much rather attend another Sleeping Giants show than a Newsboys show, as the Word of God and message that Word brings actually presented at a show that included mosh pits, but not once outside of the musical lyrics did it present at the last two Newsboys shows I've attended. I know Christian rappers who can quote and discuss Biblical passages in depth, but guys who sing "worship music" who could quote more cheat codes for MW3 than Bible verses.

My most apparent reason to hate christian music is that the music is anything but christian, maybe the lyrics but when you are useing satans music to deliver christs lyrics then what is the point

Satan's music? lol! How do you know the sound determines if it's satanic? Not by your opinion, but give me a verse. A LEGIT ONE!

I'm guessing you didn't get the memo? Any music using the major pentatonic scale (most Christian rock) is the work of the devil! Using guitars with a distorted signal is a sin as well :p

ooooh yes!! You can't play a major pentatonic (that's rockish) or just a straight up pentatonic (because that's bluesy) and definitely NOOO minor scales!! not even a harmonic minor!! Because those are sin, sin, sin! :p ...Sorry I'm showing my music nerdiness LOL

*DRIPPING with sarcasm :p*

I don’t think there is any problem with who praise his name through music, sinner or one who is completely committed and keep himself or herself holy in eye of God, what matters is God’s name is praised. Nothing in this world happens against the will of God. God will bring anything out of anyone to praise his name. He said that in luke 19:40 "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." I think it’s really ok whoever sings with whatever kind of Music but it should be praising God and that’s very important. If some people don’t sing gospel content music, but some other music, they can continue with whatever they have been doing and provide support financially to godly work because that is also a god work. About Amy, I don’t think God brings music out of someone only when he or she is perfect in Christ. Amy grants was not perfect in Christ but God used her for his work. We shouldn’t remark at god’s work.

I have read all 8 pages of this thread, and as always everyone is deadlocked on this. blah Blah Blah...christian music -secular music...is he/is she a true christian because of what they sing or how they live...evil chord progressions,hymns...metal..pop...$$$,record companies...I'd like to thank my Lord & Savior Jesus for this gold record, yadda yadda yadda.
GOD CREATED MUSIC..NOT THE DEVIL. PERIOD...END OF DISCUSSION.
MAN IS FALLIBLE...CHRISTIAN OR HEATHEN...PERIOD.
IF YOUR IDOL IS SECULAR OR CHRISTIAN MUSIC & THE ARTISTS THAT PRODUCE SUCH,AND YOUR FAITH & EYES ARE GLUED TO THAT AS YOUR SOURCE FOR STRENGTH IN GOD...GROW UP & OPEN YOUR BIBLE,GET ON YOUR KNEES & GET A REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.
LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT...IF YOUR HEART CONDEMNS YOU THEN STOP LISTENING TO IT.
THREADS LIKE THIS ONLY FURTHER TO DIVIDE PEOPLE IN THE BODY.
AFTER 30 PLUS YEARS OF BEING IN & OUT OF MUSIC BOTH CHRISTIAN & SECULAR,I THINK THESE TYPE OF CONVERSATIONS FALL UNDER A DOG RETURNING TO HIS OWN VOMIT.
THAT'S MY 2 CENTS.

I happen to like Christian music... I didn't read the millions of paragraphs above. But I know there are some artists who do try too hard as in they almost appear to be like secular because they are not separating themselves in attitude, lyrics, etc. Some, on the other hand aren't like that. You cant judge one christian artist who you have seen to be contradicting and then say "they are also the same" because of that one. That's just ridiculous. If a song sounds similar to "secular" with instruments or beats, who cares? If its the words that are sounding the same, that's when it's looking bad.
